Been stalking this page for quite a while now. I only understand about half of you are talking about but I want to learn more. Opened this account just to ask you all a few questions - I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post it.

Is this the best place to get the GFS? http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=snow;sess=
Where can I see the ECM? What times are they run at? Is there anything else worth watching for?

Almost all the models are on Meteociel, you can find links to them on the left hand side.

    18Z GFS starts at 9:30pm

Is the 12Z GFS showing epic cold over Ireland on the 168h timeframe?

    http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php

It appears to be coming from the West of all places or I am interpreting the chart incorrectly?

Unfortunately no, it's a fairly zonal model with heights above average to the south. In the Northern Hemisphere winds around low pressure system flow anti-clockwise, so that is a westerly breeze.

It's too far out to really take seriously, but it could happen. Hope not. :)

Check the Temp. 850hPa charts, it's not that cold.

Yep, around the -2C mark across most of Ireland. -4C over Cork though! :D

We'll know it's going to snow when darkman reappears (or is he around under another name?)

Well, about 15 minutes to go to the 18Z GFS run. Is the tension as high as it was round this time last night in here?!

Rookie question - do you have a link.
This whole goddam site is in French :-(

Sorry that was directed at maquiladora - for the Temp. 850hPa charts

For which model? This is the GFS.

One thing I would say about the next week and this is strictly going from memory of going to school in the 80's.
When snow falls it almost always catches the Met people out. Therefore I wouldn't rule out a surprise over the wkd on Sat/Sun
850's and thickness all the wrong side of marginal, BUT in heavy ppn I think there's a decent chance in almost any part of the country. I'll be in Kerry and will be keeping an eye on those mountains!!

All eyes down on the 18z
Forbidden from the model thread at Netweather for the last few weeks, why?? because I posted that the last cold spell in December would not happen and it didn't. I feel sorry for Ian Brown, I mean my God all he said was that it may not snow!!
