Very good UKMO to 120 hrs. At 96 hrs I would have put my house on the cold breaking down but it hangs on. Just.

if the ECM pushes that icelandic further west this evening then we may get the direct hit that the UK is expecting, the GFS had until now shown it consistently 50 to 60 miles to the west of scotland but on this run it hits the centre before moving east, anyway something to watch out for on the ECM.

But very little snowfall for us, which is frustrating while they get buried in the UK.

Baby steps - to the next run!

Good improvement in the short term on the GFS, but with no blocking it's only going one way after that.

    Fingers crossed for more improvements.

    UKMO is better.

    ECM to come.

    It's not over yet.

Stunning chart for coldies. UKMO cold throughout with sleet or snow at times sums it up. And very cold nights when skies clear. Well below freezing.

Ye UKMO has an undercut. Would be much better for us, yes?

There has been such big differences between runs that anything can happen, of course to temper expectation anything can also be a massive Atlantic push

not sure why people so often say, no snow for us and UK getting hammered with snow again. The UK (outside of Scottish highlands of course) really doesnt get much snow. London gets pretty similar amounts of snow to Dublin. I think people greatly exaggerate the frequency of snow in UK

Continental Europe is a different kettle of fish

Yeah it's something that would be good. Gives us the chance at least of setting up a sustained cold/snowy spell instead of an inevitably short cold snap with us on the edge of a UK snowfest, can you imagine the rage and jealousy on here reading netweather?:P

Uk does get more snow days on average than us, but it is a bit of a myth alright that they frequently get more snow accumulation than us in any one event. Under the right conditions, we can get far higher accumulations here. It is the same in summer during thundery weather, the UK can get more frequent thundery weather for sure, but when storms are big in this country, they can be much bigger and better.

Or at least they were, one time, long long ago. :(

Nice big yellow warning for snow covering most of Britain on MET UK.

Some of the 12z ensemble members are awesome. You may need the snow shovel next week. Big shift from 6z. Ensemble temperature mean is going to be down several degrees c.

For those interested you can view them here

Just had a flick through them myself. Huge improvement on the 06Z. About 8/20 good ones and a couple of fantastic ones. Just what we wanted. Need to see that continue now. FI is 72 hours.

Op and control milder than almost all other members on 19th.
