circulation pump and limescale

I have oil fired heating and I had some problems with it failing to work. I checked it out and all is in order except for the pump. the pipe out of boiler to circulation pump is hot up to pump... after pump it goes cold.

I gave the pump a few thumps and hey presto it is working again. I live in a hard water area and reckon it is getting clogged with limescame.

Is there any additive I can add to clear it and/or keep it clear.
