I was in a particularly tedious training course yesterday, where the highlight was hearing the term 'parking lot' being used as a verb. After someone asked a random question, the presenter said 'Lets parking lot that for later.' Probably the worst example of office speak I've ever heard

    Jesus Christ that is awful!

Do people not realise how ridiculous they sound?

Working in an open plan office you hear a lot of this shíte being bandied about, conversations between management types filled with pointless crap like “in terms of...” and “from a ___ perspective”

    Well for ya/well for some.

"My bad" is creeping in here. I heard a fella say it the other day, and I had to turn around as I could feel myself blushing.

One thing I could never understand is the people who put an 'r' into Chicago. Making it Chicargo, for some reason.

Something I've heard a lot in the last year or two is when someone answers a question with "Yeah, no...."

What the f'*k is that all about?

"You must find the commute very tough, do you?"

"Yeah, no, I don't take much notice really"

Some Americans are guilty of that and they should know better. What about Irish people calling Baltimore in Cork Balltimore

    To be Pacific about it

I know a guy who talks with a slight American accent despite the fact he's from Sligo.

Says things like "Awesome, gross, sweater, sidewalk, elevator".

I think its from having no social life and watching every American TV show under the sun.
I wonder where people get the word guy from, maybe you should practice what you preach.

This has bugged me for the last two years or so, listening to interviews on radio and tv and also when talking to people in person and on the phone. I've pulled a few people up on it and asked them why they said "yeah, no", their response was "Did I?"

I started to think people were saying it to shorten "Yeah I know" but if some people don't realize they've said it could be a bad habit that's caught on.

It doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Where did that all come from? One day people might say 'Look,...' then the next, everyone was saying 'Lookit,....'.

I know this has been mentioned and posted before but the expression “in terms of” is making me extremely angry, so much so I shout at the radio or television set of late. Today an rte reporter said “he was in his late teens in terms of his age”. I mean come on, that is downright unacceptable but it is a fair reflection of the poor standard of journalism on the airwaves these days.

Sick, when used as a positive. "Sick moves" etc. How the hell did that enter the lexicon? It's just so random and meaningless out of it's original context.

How can people who use the word lexicon not get their head around the whole language and its use evolving.

“In the context of...” is getting tiring. A go-to expression for many politicians these days.
