Was just about to e-mail Cllr. Padraig Conneely, but went to the Galway City Council's councillors list and he is the only one without an e-mail. Seeing as it is a major communication channel these days, wonder what his reasoning is, maybe he just wants the job but doesn't want to be bothered by us mortals!

Mobile and landline/fax listed, it's not like he's uncontactable

The lack of an email address is indicative of something, though in truth other Councillors who have email don't always respond.

They don't always respond to phone calls either, although the provision of mobile numbers in theory makes them more accessible.

The problem with phone communication, of course, is that it leaves no audit trail. Written correspondence is the way to go if you need to keep a record for any reason.

The Councillor in question will answer his phone, but it is less clear whether he will respond in writing.

If you want a response you write a letter

That goes for politicans, Ryanair and any big company

Anyone can put together an email and these are easy to ignore.

Writing a letter shows you are serious

    It's a time-honoured method of communicating, that's for sure.

A thought: what is revealed by officials' failure to respond?

He was provided with an email when elected and decided to dispense with it. It's a running joke among the other councillors.

If you do write a letter to Cllr Conneely, make sure it is registered or have witnesses when hand delivering it.
