Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

whiff of the inevitable coming but Celtic holding strong

Celtic are doing a good job again. Tho their heads must be spinning after that last 5 or so mins of Barca play. I think we may get a repeat result of last week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,585 ✭✭✭ahnowbrowncow

Hopefully they can hold on this time.

Not your fault rarnes but this most be the most boring match thread I have ever seen :pac:

Edit: Didn't see the other two posts, this thread is buzzin now

Lucky there. First time Barca have had a really good chance. Great defending up to that.

looks likely but i hope we can nick a point.

Fascinating. Barcelona totally dominant of course but Celtic are only dropping two banks of four deep. They are leaving Miku and Samaras up the park so they have an outlet whenever they get the ball.

Looking at that replay, that was brave goalkeeping. Forster has been fcuking amazing so far again.

    HT 1-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

I think Celtic can be quite happy with that. I've never seen Barca crossing the ball so much so despite their dominance they're clearly having to rethink their strategy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,359 ✭✭✭henke

Settle for that ht score. Hope he can hold firm in the second half.

RTE weren't showing it (iirc?) so you can bet your house they didn't.

My favourite was Giles "research" for the 2012 CL semi. He spent about 5 minutes discussing Bayern Munich by showing footage of .... the German national team .... at WC2010.

Great performance so far from Celtic, had to hang on at the end of the first half but weren't too troubled for the first 30 mins.

We started the 2nd half really well in Camp Nou so hopefully we can do the same here, been to get better balls up to Miku & Samaras.

    Is Villa on the bench?

He'd have been there in the middle to dispatch that Alba cross

Sure in the euro's there, Dunphy and Giles were showing a montage of Schweinsteiger after the italy game and why they didnt think he should be captain as he was "shirking his responsiblities" Took the intervention of Didi Hamann to tell them that Lahm was actually the captain..

Anyways, surely that was a foul on Wanyama

Why should Dunphy and Giles have to watch a game involving 2 foreign teams?

Trap is paid to choose the best available Irish players so yes, he should go to see more matches.

id have fabregas in there ahead of a centre back tbh. They dont need 4 at the back tonight!!

next Scotland manager G Strachan in the crowd beside Jan Venegoor of Hesselink!!

Villa should always be playing instead of Sanchez

they never have 4 at the back though...they have one holding midfielder and 2 so called centre backs. The full backs spend most of the time in the opposing half.

They're poor enough at defending corners as it is!

Cos they are providing analysis of this game and havent a clue what happened in the first leg.

Giles "i was surprised at how disciplined celtic have been" - Well you wouldnt have been if you had of watched the 1st leg

Why should they have prioritised that match over any others that were on that night?

Typical Barcelona with 2 banks of 4 at the back.

Vics passing had been excellent this game, much better than last time imo. Matthews looking good also. Good play from Celtic so far.

barca players never just play it safe and boot it out of play!

    always find a pass.

    Quality keeping
