Probably the second biggest performance in the history of the club. That's saying something for a club going for well over 100 years.

Hope they kick on and get to the knockouts. Can only imagine the atmosphere. An even more amazing achievement considering they were missing 4 of their best players in Izaguirre, Hooper, Brown and Forrest.

In the long-term, they will do very well to keep on to the likes of Wanyama and Forster. They would have come on to a lot of clubs radars now.

Celtic are in second, 3 points ahead of whoever is in 3rd. That's all I could remember from it.

Bit much to be doing those celebration photo's in the dressing room no? Big win, but just a home group stage match, not winning the final.

Maybe but not many teams beat Barcelona in the Champions League and even less with a budget the size of Celtic's. You can be sure the players and management will be back to business when the Benfica game rolls round.

he said exactly tonight, so he hardly meant yesterday now, lol.

I think the players / staff are right to celebrate BTW but when a fan of the club says the are celebrating because the club is 125 years old exactly tonight needs correcting....

GReat result in the other game for Celtic. Basically means no matter what happens against Benfica in the next game, a win at home to Spartak on the last day should see them through.

Nope, don't begrudge them it one bit.

Man City and Arsenal seem to have trouble winning "just the home group stage games"

This save is fantastic. Vital at that point in the game.

No if Benfica win their next two matches, then they go through. Celtic would need to beat Spartak in their final match, coupled with Spartak taking points of Barcelona next week, to have a chance.

Yeah, but Benfica won't get something off Barcelona.

If Barcelona beat Spartak then Benfica have every chance of getting the win. Barcelona will have won the group and will surely play the reserves.

Yes, that's the problem from Celtic's point of view. To make the last 16 they must get a result in Lisbon. That's the really important game, not the Spartak one.

Completely disagree. I think a win on the last day will be enough. Barcelona have had their slip up.

It shows you what can be achieved by inferior opposition. Trapattoni take note.

    Vilanova:
"Congratulations to Celtic for the game, and to the Celtic fans for the spectacular role they play."

    well said.

and well done Celtic. momentous. incredible.

Barca didn't play badly, and it wasn't a park the bus job either. very tactically astute from Celtic. the wingbacks were given room, Messi was given little-no space, and Celtic threw their bodies at everything else, all while counter-attacking directly, and exploiting Masch in particular.

Lennon did his homework, and the team followed the plan perfectly.

oh, and good luck keeping Wanyama far past the end of this season :p

    Huge result for Celtic.

Will almost certainly be going into final game against Spartak with a win getting them into next round.

Wouldn't say I enjoyed the game as it was basically just Barca knocking the ball around and Celtic defending but it would have been cruel had Barca got a late goal again after all that.

Should ensure a big lift in attendances for the rest of the season.

You should never take seriously whatever the_monkey says with regard to Barcelona:)

The save in JimmyIovine's gif is when I thought the game was up. So easy to deflect that in and he couldn't have seen that until very late and just stuck a hand out. Also thought Messi had beaten him curling into the corner earlier.

season book holders and travelling fans will prioritise european games over domestic for as long as we stay in europe tbh. those fans cant do both regulary and they make up alot of the regulars at cp

Trap doesn't believe in the sort of high percentage possession football Celtic played tonight.

One result won't change that, it won't change the fact they have lost games in the spl this season. Does that make Dundee better than Barca?

If Forster could improve his distribution he'd be absolutely top class. Great presence and great reactions. I'd say he's a joy to play in front of if you're playing back four for Celtic.
