ah glad I found this thread really cannot stand listening to newstalk when she's on, I only switch on in the morning on the off chance she's off for the week, but once I hear that smarmy voice I'm gone, I'm sure Newstalk must have noticed the fall off of Listeners! Let's hope they get Ivan back once his exile comes to an end!

Hahaha this could be me talking! imagine the hordes of people that feel the same way but don't post here.

Please Ivan have mercy on us and come back.

I actually think he will come back once everything is sorted and enough time has passed

I turned on the show this morning for the first time in ages hoping for an improvement. I had it on for about five minutes when she started on about fooking gender quotas and females on company boards.

CLICK! I couldn't turn it off quicker.

Does this women ever stop with the feminist bull****!

But really, who decided that Nora Casey was the right person to replace Ivan Yates ? Is it as simple as she is a successful business woman and tick the right boxes.
She is devoid of personality and struggles to contain her bias ie public sector etc. Her limitations are exemplified by the fact she has to relate everything back to herself. Chris has struggled also since Ivan left, the chemistry between presenters ain't there.
Anyone know when Ivans year in Wales is Up? He'd be welcome back with open arms.

The breakfast show has become unlistenable since Ivan left. Norah Casey is absolutely dreadful and has dragged Chris down. Chris worked well with Ivan because he knew his place and was regularly (and good humouredly) put in it.
It seems to me that Norah still sees him as the number 2 and herself as top dog. I actually feel sorry for him, even though it was his absolutely cringe inducing interview with Anne Doyle on 7/02 that made me finally switch off.
They still wake me up in the morning, but if i hear Norah, I switch to RTE.

Actually if Ivan comes back I hope it is to replace George Hook.

Just turned the show on for the first time in ages this morning but I can't hack it. The same drivel and single minded commentary. even as I type, she's introducing a segment on how girls are better than boys!!

Seriously, there are bound to be some Newstalk goons who troll around these forums. Please take some feedback to Norah......go home.

I cant stand her either, she made some comment last week about "mums" who drop their kids off at school every morning, a couple of texters commented that its nearly equal number between mums and dads dropping their kids off to school but she said she wasnt apologizing for saying that its only the mothers that drop little Johny or Mary into school in the morning. Any other presenter would have said "of course, there a large number of fathers now able to drop their kids off to school since they are out of work due to the recession" or something along those lines but she chooses to be ignorant.

If it was the other way round, there would be uproar. She's f**king useless and the quicker shes gone the better.

I think she said its 95% women that do the dropping off, shocking comment to make.

I think the show has got very poor. Too many repeaat sections such as back on this day and newspapers at 20 to the hour. This thing of the sports news at 25 past the hour, maybe 20 past, it wrecks my head. And i hate when Chris calls Oisin Langan, Os, just wrecks my head.

I think Newstalk think they are being progressive having a twenty something and a token woman presenting their morning show but it just comes across as amateur hour.

Why can't she allow people to finish their sentence without butting in? It is very irritating when she asks someone a question and just as the guest is getting to the main point of his or her point in she comes with another question. Does she not want to hear the reply?...does she think WE don't want to hear the reply?.. If I was asked onto the 'show' to be interviewed and this amateurish behaviour happened to me I would get up and walk out, or hang up if I was on the phone. Maddening behaviour by a very unprofessional interviewer.

I think she has a list of questions in front of her and is just ploughing through them without listening to the interviewee or trying to understand the issue at hand.

He's too boring to be honest on anything other than politics, plus he won't hear a word said against Fianna Fail.

He's Demot Aherns brother-in-law, you wouldn't expect anything else. Fionnan Sheehan of the Indo has really been letting the mask slip over the last while also, going all out to bat on behalf of FF (and his missus, senator and prospective GE candidate Averil Power)

Fionann will put out what ever spin the wife gives him every morning from FF headquarters!

But to be fair, an Independent reader will usually swallow it!

Ok ill admit I was drifting in and out of consciousness but am I the only one that thought vast tracts of this mornings show was made up of giggling and stupid jokes ?

I honestly don't remember any news from this morning

Maybe she found this thread - she is moving off breakfast from next week

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/tv-radio/norah-casey-to-step-down-from-hosting-newstalk-breakfast-29342817.html

Surely this opens the door for Shane to come back?

Yay - thank jaysus her unique brand of Mother/Son 'sexual chemistry' between Chris and herself  will be no more.....That lady Dil from the informative, always entertaining Global Village would be a super replacement, or maybe Bobby Kerr - just what the show needs, more know it all dragons....rarely if ever listened anymore but what I did hear consisted of inane banter and precious little actual news/interviews etc. O for the days of Dunphy, even if it was mostly his cronies he interviewed.

Clearly this is great news yet once again it shows how NT cannot hold on to any presenters in this slot, can anyone list them all (pub quiz!)?

One can only wonder who will take over? Shane Coleman back in?
