Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Where exactly is Gerrard meant to be playing? He seems to be stuck in front of the back four but anytime we attack, it's slowed down because players are looking for him. Surely Rodgers has to move him further up the field in the second half?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Strongbow10

this is a f*cking shambles, sort out the midfield FFS

we need people in midfield who will work, Sahin and Gerrard are passengers

    great feet from Mata

Rodgers needs to sort out this system at ht. It's a shambles.

    Should have been 2.

Should be 2-0. Mata could have done better

    Terrible defending

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Three men challenging one for a header and then wonder why we're in the ****ter when the ball breaks to Chelsea. Wisdom missing his tackle certainly doesn't help either.

Horrible game of football to watch. All seems very disjointed with no real flow to the game.

Lucky we are going in only one goal down. Hope they can pick **** up second half and scrape a draw or something

That's exactly what the second half needs....I remember this one time he played a good 45 minutes against Chelsea.

I remember that, thought his lfc career was finally coming good, can't believe he loaned him to west ham....

    :pac:

    Such a boring game..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,510 ✭✭✭✭noodler

    Shambolic performance.

I can't cry too much given the quality gap.

Its the other 6 or 7 games this season in conjunction with this performance that is the problem.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,414 ✭✭✭Lord Trollington

Wisdom is showing he is no better in the centre than he is is the corner. He is going to cost us a goal before this game is out.

Lucky to get to HT only one down, 'The Brendan Rodgers Experience' will have to make some changes

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,202 ✭✭✭el dude

What a let off from Mata there.

Glen Johnson gets talked of as a great attacking fullback by loads of Liverpool fans but he's just as wasteful as Jose most of the time.

Bah, only one goal down but the middle is as good as a bucket with a hole.

If Henderson had any steel in his back I'd put him on for Sahin (Gerrard won't be dropped), but he doesn't so tis hard to see where the improvement can come from unless Rodgers can
get G & S to apply themselves with better positioning and some tackling.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭Jason Todd

Poor poor performance from Liverpool. Sahin and Allen need to start finding each other in the middle, they're playing like strangers. Need to protect the back 3 a but better too. Need Sterling to find space to run at their back line and Suarez needs to pick and choose when he takes on 3 and 4 players at at time! Simples! Ha ha ha.

Seriously though, what can be done? Chelsea look like cutting us open on the counter every single time we lose the ball.

  • Registered Users Posts: 861 ✭✭✭Vudgie

Watching Liverpool players running into each other is embarrassing. A draw would be a bit of a miracle the way things stand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,981 ✭✭✭doc_17

Chelsea will probaby score another and I have no idea where we will get 2 from

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,258 ✭✭✭MUSEIST

Chelsea will regret the oscar and mata misses, I just have a bad feeling. We have our tactics spot on IMO, sit deep and allow liverpool to pass in their own half as much as they want and look to counter.

A few good bits and bobs from most of Liverpool's players. Beautiful control by Suarez towards the end of the half.

Chelsea looked in a totally different league for the first 30 minutes. Liverpool couldn't get through midfield.
Chelsea don't look all that sharp but there's just a gulf in class.

Allen has continued his poor form.

Say what you want about Terry but 50 goals for a CB who doesn't take penalties is utterly incredible.

Jaysis, the way his shin bent backwards

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,432 ✭✭✭willmunny1990

Piss easy for us so far but I suppose you'd expect that to be the case against a club that sits in midtable.

Unfortunate about Terry's injury, hopefully he'll be fine.

Just seeing the Terry incident again there, fcuking ouch!! I'm in pain just looking at it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,801 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

this has to be our worst performance of the season. The defence is a shambles, Agger and Wisdom were poor. Sahin has went missing again and Allen has been ridiculously sloppy. Feel sorry for Suarez here, he hasn't been given a jot of support. Suso needs to make an appeara pronto.

i hate when a pundit comes out with the classic that a team are STILL IN IT when the score is 1-0, talk about stating the obvious,

Well, Wisdom will have to make way and we're going to have to switch to 4-3-3 if we stand a chance of making it back into the game.

So put one on for him and then the other for either Sterling or Sahin as the game progresses.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,494 ✭✭✭Columbia

Chelsea have to take another chance. Liverpool usually pop up with a goal from somewhere, no matter how unlikely they look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,510 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I'd like to see Enrique off.

He offers nothing going forward. Not a bad half out of him defensively but we will need more from the left in this system at 1-0 down.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Strongbow10

theres simply no penetration within this team, passing it amongst yourselves, sideways, and trying to keep ball does not open up teams, I think Rodgers is fooling himself if he thinks its just a matter of holding onto the ball.

That philosophy is reliant upon upping the intensity in the final third.

What happens when teams simply have no interest in pressing and just sit behind the ball?

The story of our season will be the following mantra:

"Theres a difference between keeping possession and teams simply letting you have it because they are confident you cannot hurt them at all".

The Barcelona midfield. There is a good reason teams cant / dont play like Barca
