Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I really wish they wouldn't feel the need to show injuries over and over again from all manner of angles in analysis.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Liverpool started well with the formation. The goal really knocked it out of them though.
EDIT: Gerrard doesn't help them running around like a headless chicken trying to win the ball.

I just can't see where he's meant to be playing. Positionally he's sitting in front of the back four but he's trying to be everywhere at once and as a result is totally ineffective. Playing him up behind Suarez is the only way we'll create anything.

    Jesus, Allen.

That's a few times Allen has been caught in possession....someone shout man on!

    Nothing wrong with that.

It seems to be a flat 3 across the back and middle. Then Suarez and Sterling interchanging up front. They need more players up front to create anything, regardless of who it is!

It was more of an incredulous 'What?' at thinking Liverpool pop up with goals even when they look unlikely

Changes needed now, we're getting murdered in midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Men against boys in midfield. Chelsea bossing us.

YOU ARE PLAYING FOR LIVERPOOL IN MIDFIELD AGAINST CHELSEA

You aren't allowed to get owned one on one and get brushed aside off the ball. Man the **** up! That goes for more than one player too. Awful stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭Daemonic

Teams seem to have twigged that if you pressure Allen enough, the rest of the midfield are doing little or nothing to help and possession can be won by simply denying him any time.

Fair enough, more of a personal opinion than anything. The games I watch, Liverpool usually get a goal from somewhere, the games against Hearts come to mind for instance.

Sahin has been shocking, as has Gerrard

Shamefully bad, passengers in a midfield that is basically consisting of Joe Allen getting his arse kicked, I feel sorry for Allen

    Fantastic save.

could be a bad one for Gerrard :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,655 ✭✭✭El Inho

is Gerrard as bad as he sounds on the radio (injury wise?)

could be a blessing in disguise going by his recent form

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Torres/Gerrard having a Bates/Reed moment on the floor!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,510 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Suarez is the only leader out on that pitch and we can't even get the ball to him. Appalling to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,066 ✭✭✭Washington Irving

Torres, you knob. Falls over Gerrard and lies on the ground till he realises he's not gonna get anything

Also that dropping ball which came after that they are NOT shwoing in the replay, Mikel seemed nudge TWO Liverpool players off it when they were favourites and it is just dumb luck for us that he miscued his shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Sahin really hasn't done it at Liverpool so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Your joking right, Gerrard was somewhat lucky there, why he felt the need to tackle from behind in the penalty area I don't know but it could so easily have been a penalty.

Kinda bad when your attempt to even up a 'Men against boys' midfield is bringing on an 18 year old with less than 10 starts
