Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey guys
I'm only getting interested in this stuff now (cos i'm looking to install something:D)
I have underfloor heating and want to install a 50 tube wet solar colecting system to heat the house .
i don't want the hot water tank heated at all.
My question is i suppose is will this solar system heat the floor slab to 24+ degrees C.
i believe that it is a waste of time and money heating water to store it until you want a bath or to wash your hands.
why not heat your house with it????

You run the risk of cooking the panel duriing the summer if you don't use the water from the system.

The hot water is free so I don't understand your issue whith such a large panel you'll just need a bigger tank or a heat dump (swimming pool perhaps).

As for heating the house, yes it's possible to get some heat on the sunny mornings but I wouldn't depend on it.

Solar space heating is a mismatch. Works best when you need it least. On the other hand, in the summer when your hot water is more expensive (because the heating isn't on) the solar does the job nicely.

It will work better at heating the slab than trying to heat rads, but I still think solar space heating is something you do as an add-on to solar water heating. Get your hot water for free in the summer, but perhaps divert the panels to the slab in the winter as the heat losses are lower and there is more heat gained overall.
