some entertainment, dont want this game to finish:)

Waites is one really likeable player, refuses to bend and really cool!No antics and appreciating his opponents (MVG's) form unlike a lot of others. Getting annoyed with Sky's obsession with the World's--this is an equally if not a better tournament i think, can't they give it a rest for a while--constant ads making little of this one almost..

Yeah it really is incredible darts from both. Great game

Great game that, can't see anyone beating MVG now.

Waites is my new favorite darts player, hope he makes the switch to the PDC soon. Very likeable guy.

    40 180s.

What a game. van Gerwen unstoppable in that form, hope he goes on to win it.
Waites just doesn't give up, super player.

It would be great to see an All Dutch final tomorrow night. Another great day of darts, personally I think this tournament has passed out the World Matchplay as the 2nd biggest tournament in the PDC calendar.

For me its the best PDC tournament right now.The fact that its really the only tournament that has players from both sides (altough lopsided in favour of the pdc) makes it as good as it is.

The matchplay being on in the summer doesnt help though thats more to do with clashing with the GAA.from the GSOD to mid january this is darts season.

Some game between MVG and waites.waites had 2 big finish chances to level it to 14-14 but MVG was a bit better.no fault on waites and in fairness given the sulking from MR.T and some others in tournaments conducted himself well.surely gonna move to the pdc after tonight.dont like MVG all that much I have to say but he has thrown some fair arrows over the last few days.he is the best player left in it.

good to see barney back in form but I would be fearful he will revert to pdc type against hamilton.even though hes playing well he could mess it all up tomorrow afternoon.

he didn't move after he won it, so not sure why he might after losing a quarter final.

I suspect whether he moves will be determined by whether he wins a BDO World title.

9-6 to Barney after a shaky start. Decent game.

It's great to see Barney so fired up and passionate again. He is looking very good at the moment.

    gogogo Barney

RVB v MVG final has a nice ring to it

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,486 ✭✭✭manafana

Yeah my view is Waites wants to come over as BDO CHAMP.

barney has turned it on since last break great darts

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,072 ✭✭✭Max Power

Made hard work of that in the end.

MvG is unbeatable in this form. It's just pure genius

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

Poor auld Deano. van Gerwen in ruthless form. Last 2 checkouts were ridiculous.
Round half the board with 2 trebles and a double and then a double double. Brilliant stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,072 ✭✭✭Max Power

Poor old Deano, he'll age another 10 years after this.

180's scored before the semi's today,Taylor's 1 sticks out,of course he goes down the board a lot but still it's a bit miserly..(7 180's between the top 3 ranked players)

Final's going to be short tonight. MVG to win comfortably. I'd say that the first 12 legs or so will be tight, maybe 7-5 MVG. Then, he'll turn on the afterburners and from there on in, it'll be one way traffic. Wouldn't mind being wrong, as I like Barney but, yeah, MVG is unstoppable on current form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 482 ✭✭Treble20

MVG not hitting the form of the past few games so far and Barney taking advantage and leading 11-9 at present. Still time for Van Gerwen to turn the game around but Barney looks determined tonight to win a Major title for the first time in 5 years. The next session will be make or break for Van Gerwen.

    Another 170 from MVG! :D

    Well done Barney. Well deserved.

Delighted for Barney. Great to see him win a tv major once again. Hopefully he kicks on from here and gets back to the level we know he can reach.

Ah great to see. Hard to imagine its 5 years since his last major.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

Well done Barney, van Gerwen nowhere near his form throughout the competition.
Exciting final but not a great standard compared to what has been served up over the last week.

Overall it's been one of the best tournaments I can remember. Only the World Championship will be ahead of this in the competition I'll be most looking forward to now.

    Welcome back Raymond :D

Delighted for Barney tonight. There was conversations here on the forum about Barney and his downward spiral in recent times and it was hard to see him winning a major again and myself included thought the Dutch legend would keep slipping down the rankings but great to see him prove all the critics wrong and win a Major again after 5 and a half years. Van Gerwen will bounce back,Ally Pally 2013 could be his 1st World title.

    Absolutley thrilled for Barney

Delighted for Barney. I, like many others, had written Barney off for not having the mental strength to compete anymore buy he proved me and everyone else wrong this week. He just seemed like a completely different man, he had confidence and belief in himself again and it worked wonders for him.

Hard look on MvG because he was definitely the player of the tournament but Barney played a very clever game and took out the big shots to never let him get level.

Great tournament. Players Championships up next and then the big one!

The Players Championship is another cracking tournament on November 30th-December 2nd and even better again it's on free to air channel ITV4!

Good job Barney. Like others have said I didn't think Barney had another big title in him. Hopefully it's not a flash in the pan. Barney's been so frustrating to watch in recent years. Thought he might have blown it hitting that single 5 in the second last leg when going for tops. Great stuff winning the last leg in 11 darts against the throw.

It's hard to miss the start date with Sky's obsession with promoting it all week."And now let's look at what happened in the 2007 final" with the player's still on stage.

Are you sure you can get it over here, It was blocked on UPC the last time they showed it. No sign of Satanta showing it this year :(

I'd say Grand Slam sponsors William Hill weren't too happy with all the publicity their rivals Ladbrokes were getting in Sky's promotion of the World Championship!

I have it tuned into my Sky box and I also have the channel on a saorview/combi box. I do remember last year people saying that ITV4 was blocked on UPC for some reason?

Even though Barney came out of his group I expected him to go no further. Its good to see him win a major but for someone of his quality 5 years without a major is a very poor run of results.

It wasnt my greatest prediction but on all evidence it was hard to make a case for him this week.woeful form, damaged by defeats to taylor, and a dozen or so players able to challenge him now as opposed to the 2 horse race between him and taylor in 2007 for instance.

Though MVG was the best player this week Barney is a worthy winner.A below par barney hasnt been good for the game and the early exit of him and taylor last year led to what was the second worst PDC WC in the last 10 years (2008 being the nadir).

It would be brilliant if Barney could make a success of the worlds next month but even after that win I still have my doubts. All it takes is one bad set and the head shaking might start.the field is extremely competitive now compared to his 2007 so he aint likely to face journeymen like alan tabern or andy jenkins the further he goes.in fact I would go as far as to say it was the east convincing major he has won and had a lot to do with his game slowing down on what it once was.

A dire group stage but a fine knockout end.An exceptional weekend of darts.cant wait for the players championship and the zuiderduin next.

did back barney after he showed touch of class in semi's he was written off bit quick, think his expedience on big stage told, might even keep an eye on bdo hoping waites can win it this year

Whats the story with Ted Hankey? I know he was out of it during his Match to Van Gerwan and the perception was he was under the influence, but is it true he actually had a mild stroke during that match??

Apparently docs saying he needs a long break from darts.

    A quote from his manager:

"The docs have confirm that @TedHankeyDarts has had a stroke he's got very high cholesterol and blood pressure and diabetes got to have 6/8 weeks rest and will need more tests in the coming weeks the doctors report will confirm this might use it to sue the people"
