Looking at http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/BLACKBERRY-PlayBook-Tablet-PC-64-GB/306440/2.9 but would really love some feedback. The points that were made about this
Tough, good camera back and front, however this will only run Blackberry Apps therefore am I thinking it will not run Google Earth etc and also games he plays i.e Sumdog, Scratch or will he be able to get these? Also is there a net nanny I can download for when he is browsing

Another tablet I looked at was disgo 9104 . 16gb memory, E200, back and front camera running Android 4.0. So if I bought this and because it is running Android will he be able to get more apps (and more importantly I will not have to pay for apps!!!)

    PLEASE HELP!! APPRECIATED

Scratch won't run on any tablet at the moment (unless a full windows or linux tablet). There is an online tool called appinventor for making android apps which is very similar to scratch.

Some android apps have been ported over to BB but there would be nowhere near the same amount.

If I were you I would get the NEXUS 7 16GB for €209 in HMV. It is not as robust as some other tablets so a good case is a must.

    see here
Nabi 2? Not the cheapest kid on the block, but it's rugged with decent hardware under the hood (quad-core Tegra 3, 1 MB RAM, 2 MP webcam, expansion slot, Android ICS), preloaded with kid's stuff and parental control

get a case ,a screen cover /protector, ,plastic to stop screen scrathes.
theres loadsa free games on android market,
    play store.

MAKE sure tablet has parental control on it.
a 7inch tablet is fine for a 12 year old.
i dont think google play app store is on the nabi tablet.

    its got amazon app store,

i presume you could buy a screen protector, transparent cover in maplins or
    similar shop.

The Blackberry is a good tablet, and get an extra tenner off using the code - BOARDSVIP€10
You can't argue with that price either.
Good thread about it HERE and getting google apps etc..

I wouldn't recommend the Nabi to anyone over 7. Also its OS is terrible.

    OpenDNS for parental control.

This is a new tablet from Ainol - 10 inch. I'm going to biuy this on Tuesday
LINK - good all round, and Ainol tablets have a large community, if anything went wrong.

As said, 7 inch is fine, and there are tons of threads about which to go for.
    Eken W70, Ainol Novo 7 Fire/Paladin/Mars/Crystal etc..
and the Ainol Novo Venus coming in a week or so.

    it has parental control,
    Just google review arnova childpad,
unless you are a techie, ITS best to get one that has
    PARENTAL control installed on it.

theres a charge for browser parental controls after 6 months. https://play.google.com/store?hl=en
you can install apps from link above .

IT has store with 10,000 apps on it.
