    1. O'Reilly JAVA Pocket Reference (with Javanese Tiger on the front) for 16.45 euro. :eek:

    a. This is a typical pocket sized reference by O'Reilly
    b. This edition is the first edition dating from March 2008. JAVA has moved on from then in several ways.:confused:
    c. I bought this same edition, soon after it was published also in Easons for cheaper.

    2. JAVA in 21 days. 42 euro - Easons Tallaght.
    I bought this book online from Pearsons. Cost, including post and packing came to 30 euro.

    correction second book is not an O'Reilly book - its a SAMS book

    Moral of story, try and buy your Apple/PC/tablet books elsewhere.

    Wait, are you saying that you can buy books online for cheaper than you can buy them in a bookshop? Who would have thought that? I, for one, am shocked.

    They're specialist books printed and published outside of Ireland. Of course an Irish shop who might sell 3 or 4 copies in a year is going to be significantly more expensive than one who sells them by the pallet.

    The prices in Easons seem reasonable enough

    According to amazon.co.uk the RRP's of the books are;

    Java Pocket Reference stg£11.50 - c€16.50

    Java in 21 days - stg£31.99 - c€45.00

    Obviously, using the rate from XE would be a waste of time as it changes from day-to-day and is only an indication of the rate anyway

    The RRP of the newest edition of the Teach yourself Java in 21 days is also a lot lower than the old edition, £20.99 v £31.99

    ok, all replies noted. I continue to stand by my assertion about the JAVA pocket reference edition from Mar 2008.
