17:23 for me great to see a few boardsies and meet a couple ones I didn't know. Happy new year everyone!

Enjoyed the race. The course was nice and flat and everything seemed well organised.
I even somehow managed a PB after being out drinking last night!

One suggestion is that it would be nice to get some kind of snack at the finish line like a piece of fruit or something.
There was only water at the finish line today.
But that's a very minor criticism!

First year that I haven't kicked off the New Year with this race in ages. Since I was in the area I thought it'd be rude not to grab a few photos.

Could to see the competitive edge is strong this early in the year....

I'm not sure if that pic was taken before or after I shouldered him! :pac:

Man that was very tough today. I generally don't race when not fit and now I remember why :o Was hemorrhaging places on the second lap. Slowest 5k time in donkeys, have ran 5k splits in marathons quicker.

On the flip side it was nice to run a well organised race, meet up with friends and we managed to finish second team which was the main reason I said I'd run (and the reason I didn't stop after lap 1). But most of all it is a great wake up call and has definitely help focus the mind on the work needed to be done over the coming weeks/months.

That race is always a great start to the new year, and I'm absolutely delighted with my shiny new PB. 2013 has gone off to a great start. :)

Great race as usual and a good way to shake off the cobwebs for the new year.

Very out of shape but sick over christmas and concentration on the training plan this was never more than a warm up for new years lunch. Nice to meet up with some lovely boards faces again...been way too long since I was at a road race.

Well done to LVAC and stewards, awful weather before the race and full of smiling faces.

    Hi All

Just reading the info on this years race on the Liffey Valley AC website:

    http://www.liffeyvalleyac.com/pages/Tom-Brennan-5k/13/

It says the "furze road", so does that mean it's the 5km lap down the furry glen? I can't see the route on the website anywhere.

    Thanks

this route was in the race profiles thread, don't think it has changed

Too many of my family saying "Why would you have a quiet NYE just because of a bloody run! You runners are boring; drink up and jog the next day!"...they just don't get it:)

Will have a few beers just to be sociable and then hit the road like a demon to sweat the booze out:)
