Boots (Irish Stores) have Paco Rabanne Lady Million Eau de Parfum 50ml on offer at €41 but the gift set with states free body lotion is priced at €63, shouldnt both be the same price as lotion is down as free gift

    Doesn't have to be.

You say its on offer at €41. Is this the usual price? or is €63 the usual price?

There could be two offers at play here, the single bottle at a reduced price and the single bottle with something free.

It would unreasonable to expect a double offer.

As usual the messenger is being shot here, while it might not be them you should be complaining about.
When manufacturers sell stuff with 'free' stuff they will often increase the price to the distributor/wholesaler, who will in turn increase the price to the retailer. Or the wholesaler/distributor might increase the price to the retailer. They in turn pass it onto the customer.

They might charge more since they think "well the retailer will sell more so they can afford to reduce their margins".

Adjusting margins for 1 item might be very costly to implement for accounts/administration etc.

So it is feasible that the smaller one is more profitable to boots.

Either way it is common to see the "normal one" reduced otherwise nobody would buy it when they could get the other one at the same price. I would do this if I owned a shop.

The 'free' thing certainly has no legal implications if that's what you were wondering.

Normal price is €63 which is what the gift set costs now but this week Paco Rabanne Lady Million Eau de Parfum 50ml is on offer at reduced price of €41

Think Boots have a different fragrance on offer every week leading to Christmas
