Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Yay!

A few ties have the potential to rise above the mediocre or might offer comedy value/shock result

Russia 15 : 00 United States (In Russia....)
    Luxembourg 19 : 15 Scotland ( currently without a manager)
Netherlands 19 : 30 Germany (always keenly anticipated)
Sweden 19 : 30 England (New national stadium being Christened)
Ireland Republic 19 : 45 Greece (Game of Debt)
Panama 21 : 30 Spain (Spain yet again travelling across the ocean for a meaningless game)

England are giving the kids a run out with Sterling, Zaha and Jenkinson all playing at least some part tonight (no doubt in an effort to convince them to declare for England, Sterling will probably start) Gerrard to get his 100th cap.

Yay! I get to be impressed by some of the young players in the Ireland team tonight who will likely never play in a competitive game under Trap! Yay! :D

For some supporters on both sides, this is not a friendly match at all. They wouldn't even care, that Germany is playing with some sort of B team ;)

I wonder do footballers look forward to these games? I'd say the majority do

The likes of Sterling might, but I wouldn't say Casillas, Iniesta, Sergio Ramos or David Villa are exactly delighted about travelling to Panama midweek.

Yeah say it depends. Like the Belgian lads are prob buzzin at the moment with their form and stuff, while I'd say the Irish players aren't so pushed about tonight.

I expect Merkle to be at the Aviva to take the gate receipts and ask how the Greeks could afford a trip to Ireland and demand to know what kind of hotel accomodation the team and the Greek FA are staying in

I'll be watching these two anyway. Sweden are our group opponents so no harm seeing as much of them as possible. Add to this we get to check out their new stadium. It looks like an impressive job. Flexible, scalable, and a retractable roof. It even managed to cost €110m less than the new Lansdowne Road!

Nice goal from welbeck to level it up for England, good play from sterling and young in the build up. Poachers goal! Pitch is ragged though for a new stadium

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

When you build a stadium its a good idea to have the pitch down at least a month before the opening ceremony.

Sterling looking very comfortable apart from when getting sold a short pass or crunched by Larsson. Lovely cross field ball for Young which lead to the goal by Welbeck, and a few others nice moments.

Have they never heard about inventing the odd injury or strain?
They should give Giggsy a call, he was the undoubted master of that.

    Fools.:D

Crouch's goal against City last year was slightly better I think.

And Cisse's was in the same league.

I read all comments over on the bbc text commentary about the goal and rushed in to see catch it on the highlights. Given the hyperbole with which it was being described I was pretty sure I was going to be disappointed when I finally saw it. I wasn't.

4 against Germany last month. 4 against England tonight. Damn, we are fúcked next March! :(

Zlatan conversation with Hart (dramatisation, may not have happened).

I thought, the match between Shels and Bray was the worst match ever, but I was proven wrong. Holland vs Germany...
