What does the average person in Ireland save ? By either % salary terms or actual euro amount per month.

Saving rate of households was 14.1% in 2011 according to the European Commission. Where they have the savings rate as "gross saving divided by gross disposable income".

in this mornings paper it was stated average salary was approx 35 k so that would give an average savings per year of nearly 5k

after pension, rent , taxes , travel expenses, food , holidays etc etc.

I'm not sure what exactly gross disposable income is though - it might be less than the 35k gross salary
