Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Water damage on S3 - now no audio

    Hello,

My sister's Galaxy S3 fell out of her cardigan pocket into the (clean) toilet bowl. She got it out immediately, removed all the cards/batteries, put it in a bag of rice and placed it in the hot press. After a day or two, she put it back together and now there is no audio from the earpiece. As far as I know, she has no insurance. Is there any fix for this? Or any phone-fixing stores that could help?

    Thanks

Insurance wouldn't cover water damage anyway.

    Neither will warranty.

Those phone fixer places will try for a price but I can't comment on how good the repair work is.

A friend did something similar with a GS2 and even after drying it out for ages, it gradually got worse and worse to use and he had to change phone. :(

You'd want to compare the price of a repairing it with buying something cheaper PAYE. She might have to accept a downgrade.

Should be covered under accidental breakage in house insurance policy (depending on your cover)... Though you may have to pay something towards excess , again depending on policy.

Try SoundAbout. Someone in the comments had the same issue where they dropped the phone in a puddle and the phone now works.

With water damage its very hit and miss, It might work or it might not.
you can leave into a phone repair place and they will strip it done, try to remove the corrosion in the area where the water has affected and clean it with 100% alcohol. That is all the can be done apart from fitting a new motherboard which is as much as a new phone.
