Hey, just wondering would anyone be able to suggest places around Cork to volunteer in? I'm a student at the moment and have free time so would like to do something worthwhile.

Cork Simon are always looking for volunteers and so are Penny Dinners. Alternatively, you could sign up to Cork volunteer centre and hey will e-mail you relevant opportunities, or you could always go in and speak to them about what type of volunteering interests you personally.

I was in the same situation nearly 4 years ago and after trawling the internet discovered that my local scout group needed leaders. I was never a scout but I thought it might be something that would interest me. I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

you get such a feeling of fulfillment at the end of a meeting knowing that you're helping to mould kids into better, more rounded individuals. Which you are. Aside from that, I've become a better, more rounded person myself. I've also made so many friends through scouting and it is a huge part of my life. To the point that I decided to stay in Dublin when I didn't have to and when it would have been easier not to, just because I didn't like the thought of leaving my scouts. (I'm aware of how sad that sounds!)

If you check out scouting Irelands website (www.scouts.ie) you should be able to find out information about your nearest group. They are always looking for leaders!

Thanks very much for the advice guys! :D Went to the Cork Volunteer Centre and they provided some really good places. Hopefully it'll all work out now!

    Thanks again.
