Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I doubt my Wolseley 16/60 is that expensive. It really needs a front valance.

I actaully like that maverick apart from the weedy 6, but why oh why do people leave their junk all over the inside of ANY car there trying to sell...

Love that daimler though, not a fan of any older jags/daimlers but those 90s jags are really lovely and will be so collectable one day.....and by then they'll all be wrecked because people can buy them for half nothing, drive them for a few months until they have to tax or 15mpg starts to hurt and then park them til they disintegrate. Such a pity.

That 190 looks like it could be a lovely car....only 3 more years for it...

And the Maverick is in 'the garden county' as well, it was meant for you - somebody had a Ford V8 engine for sale on DD I think - easy swop
( Came across a V8 one in Vietnam a few years ago - he was looking c.$5k as well ) The was a chap near Arklow had a Granada l (UK) with a Rover V8 but he put in a Pinto 2000 instead

I think the 'colour' is just in the photos - I'd say its original. LHD not helpful but ....

Love the Maverick - they made the 'pure' version in Brazil for years after it stopped in the US -

Snapped this one in Vietnam , there was also the V8 one in Saigon for sale

    'Classics' -

    82 XJ12 - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/3587085 €7.25k

    79 Ascona 2dr (400type) - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/4179926 €5.1k

    70 Ford Maverick - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/4180600 €5.5k

NOW here's some 'bangers' ( too modern for classic tax )

    86 190E - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/4178046 €550

    90 230E - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/4015332 €500

    95 Daimler V8 - http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/4176027 €800

Now the vin/vet tax is €52/yr whereas the 'regular tax' is €660 / 925 / 1683 on the 'bangers'

SO - take the Jag/Daimler as the best comparison. IF I was to pay €800 for the Daimler I'd have FOUR years motoring , road tax paid ( or EIGHT years if I only used in 'summertime' 6 mths ) for the price of the XJ12 ( Personally I'd prefer the V8  )

I think we've reached the tipping point in some prices - most people will only use their expensive classics in the summer months, and will they get their money back if the market turns / vin-vet tax increases , whereas if you go for a cheap 'banger' it can only increase in value ?

It's not a V8 it's a 4.0 striaght six, it's only a V8 badge on the back. It's not a bad car to be honest and it will do mid 20's to the gallon, oh and it's mine!!
