Hey, I know theres plenty of similar threads to this but most recent ones seem to be for PC's so..

I'm not really sure if I'm going to go ahead with this yet but just want to get an idea as to what I can expect for my budget. I know a PC would be a better option but I move about quite a bit so I'd prefer a laptop. Not too clued up on the technical side of things so I'm a bit lost on hardwareversand

    1. What is your budget? Preferably under €600, might be willing to go as high as €750 if performance jump is significant enough

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming, preferably modern games at reasonably high settings, HD movies, AutoCAD, basic CFD Modelling

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? Yes

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? N/A

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals?

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? Credit Card/Laser

    9. When are you purchasing? Christmas/New Year probably

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Galway

I'd imagine a good gaming laptop for that budget will be a push but I'll see how I get on.

    Thanks for any help

You can't really build a custom laptop the same way you can build a PC.
If your looking to get a custom laptop, www.pcspecialist.co.uk & http://www.deviltech.de/ are two options.
Other than that http://saveonlaptops.co.uk/ are very good for laptops.

€600 won't get you a good laptop for gaming, you won't be playing the top games at decent settings but you should be able to get a machine to play things like BF3 on very low settings. Your best choices would be the new AMD APU laptops at your budget I would imagine but I haven't kept up-to-date with laptops so not sure what fits into your budget.

Have a look over on the Laptops forum for help with buying laptops :)

Thanks, guess that would explain the lack of laptop threads then! My current 450 euro laptop with an Intel hd card can manage most games on low settings so I would have thought for 600 I could get something a bit better.

Out of curiosity what sort of pc would I be looking at for my budget?
