Streaming files between androids and Windows 7

Hi, recently bought a nexus 7 and am wondering what's the best app to get to stream videos between the nexus 7, my android phone and a Windows laptop. What one would be considered the best at the moment? Thanks.

I just use ES File Explorer to navigate to the file then open it with MX Player.

Hi PogMoThoin, using ftp this actually downloads the file onto the device, is there anyway just to stream it to save space?

Why are you using FTP? Use LAN, add the Windows server, browse to the file and when you click it Android will ask what to open with, select MX as default

Gmote has an option for steaming back to the phone just install the Gmote server on your pc and choose what folders you want to give the phone access to.
