Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Although one has to congratulate the palestinians on going that one step further than the Irish did, and actually slit the throats of 3 month old babies as part of "resistance".

The Irish never quite reached those levels of depravity.

Why do you bother re registering on an Irish forum if you loath Irish people so much? What an interesting life you lead.

I've already said that I'm neutral in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so I don't know why you keep insisting that I'm pro-Palestinian.

Ireland has strong links to Israel to. Mossad like to use our passports when carrying out murders in foreign lands.

Mossad also used old Irish as a code language until Irish troops were stationed in Lebanon.

    Indeed.

But one of the major differences is that when we were blowing the hell out of England, the English didn't blockade Ireland, stifle food supplies and services, destroy the nations infrastructure or rain phosphorous down on our heads etc.

The affinity only goes so far. Thankfully we never had to live with that terror.

I mean ok, the European did go to the middle east and throw many of the Jews out of their homeland (this is before Islam and palestinians were invented)

As i said earlier. How can a people who suffered so much at the hands of the Nazis treat another people in such an inhuman way? Nothing learned at all.

    Israel also has blasphemy laws.

In Israel, blasphemy is covered by Articles 170 and 173 of the penal code.[28][29]
    Insult to religion
    170. If a person destroys, damages or desecrates a place of worship or any object which is held sacred by a group of persons, with the intention of reviling their religion, or in the knowledge that they are liable to deem that act an insult to their religion, then the one is liable to three years imprisonment.
    Injury to religious sentiment
    173. If a person does any of the following, then the one is liable to one year imprisonment:
    (1) One publishes a publication that is liable to crudely offend the religious faith or sentiment of others;
    (2) One voices in a public place and in the hearing of another person any word or sound that is liable to crudely offend the religious faith or sentiment of others.

Israel gives Hamas 36-hours ultimatum before starting major offensive.

"Israel warned Hamas it will step up its offensive in the Gaza Strip in 36 hours if they do not cease rocket fire. UN chief Ban Ki-moon arrived in Cairo in a bid to broker a peace deal between the two sides as the threat of a ground invasion looms.

Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz told IDF radio the time left before Israel escalates its attacks can be measured in “hours, not days.”

    What a load of rubbish.

First of all, the main image of dead children in the middle of the video is a image of Syrian children who were killed in Aleppo this year by Assad forces. This image is being widely misused during this current Gaza conflict as dead Palestinian kids.

The translation in this video is pretty bad job too.

Second, the video says Israeli left is a tiny minority. This is incorrect. In the last general elections 18% of the vote went to parties on the left.

Kadima, a liberal centrist party got the most votes with 23%.

Thirdly, Michael Ben-Ari and his followers are nuts, who don't represent Israelis. In fact Ben-Ari barely had enough votes to get into the Knesset. He is constantly doing OTT demonstrations and stunts and he isn't taken seriously by the very large majority. His party only received 3% of the national vote.

And lastly, the title of the video says it all - "Jewich [sic] Pigs".

Lads this isn't Conspiracy Theories forum, where you can get away with posting rubbish about Israel (and Jews for that matter) and get away with it. It may be After Hours, but if you post up rubbish like this you will be called out on it.

"That's what's going on over there now" "Welcome to reality" - Cop on to yourselves with your disingenuous, misleading, anti-semitic crap.

    a) check to see if the content is acceptable to the forum and include a warning if it contains graphic material

It just needs to stop. Israel are driving young lads into hamas by their hundreds...

What would you want Obama and Cameron to do ?

i agree that foreign intervention is probably the best option, force both parties to stop (like a teacher pulling two fighting kids aside) but how would you want them to go about that ?

Another UN resolution ? Neither parties would give a flying...

For starters, the international community could put sanctions in place against Israel for occupying Palestinian territory for four and a half decades.

Took them about for and a half minutes to put them in place on Iraq when it invaded Kuwait.

The U.N. is a thing of the past. No country heeds them anymore. Look at Syria and how they carried on regardless. Plus the U.S. will back Israel no matter what they do.
On this occasion Hamas responded to an Israeli murder of a boy playing football so I feel the whole thing was orchestrated to ensure the forthcoming election was won by the sitting Government.
It reminds me of a teacher asking two boys why they were fighting in the school yard. The bigger lad said "the row started when he hit me back".

There's one more aspect to this conflict which I'd forgotten until now: energy. Gaza has a couple of promising offshore natural gas fields. It would be too simplistic to say this is "about" the natural gas, but it's got to be a factor. There's a full but biased discussion of the topic here (from 2009).

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be

The two known gas fields off Gaza are tiny compared to the gas fields Israel have. It is absolutely not a factor of this conflict.

Israel has just opened the Tamir gas field, and has several other gas fields on the way. Once they open Leviathan gas field, they will actually become a net exporter of energy.

They actually had to stop working in another smaller gas field because they struck an unknown amount of oil.
