Lads bit baffled here, went to change the timer today, (like for like)...the timer works fine on constant on, and when set to timer at an exact time it also works. But the clock itself is not moving/ticking, rendering the timer part useless. Any ideas? Cheers.

More than likely got your live "in" and live "out" mixed up so you are not supplying power to the timer itself unless its switched on. Bet if you set it to an exact time there's a good chance it will run until it turns off and then run no more?

Would havin them mixed up not leave it permanently on when set to timer though? It wasnt doin that.... The timer wouldnt run at all though, it was staying on a set time and not moving....Cheers

Wouldn't expect so. This type of timer is simply a switch controlled by an electrically powered clock.
The clock is powered by the live "in"

When set to "On" or set to timer with one of the notches in the on position, The switch is closed and live "in" is connected to live "out"

If set to timer without a notch in the on position then the switch is open and if the power is connected to the live "out" instead of the "in" then the clock doesn't get power and wont run.
Worth double checking the wiring carefully with a phase tester and fish the instructions that came with the timer out of the bin:D With the power at the board on, and the timer set to off you should have power at one of the browns only - that's your live "in".

Right checked that, and checked it from the spur beside as well and still no joy:mad:. Just cant get my head around it. Thought it might that the neutrals needed to linked out for the clock but their linked internally. Dunno where to go from here. ( Its the 2nd clock btw) :)
The timer wouldnt need some sort of charge when new for the clock to work would it, like leaving it on constant for a while or something?

    You got me as well!
If you have 2 browns and 2 blues at the back of the clock and with the clock disconnected you have power at only 1 live and this is the one connected to the live in then - I dunno
You might be looking for a fella with a bit more than a phase tester at his disposal so (e.g. a qualification :D )
