The Irish Drug Free Powerlifting Association (IDFPA) single lift national championships are set for the 19th of January in Cork Institute of Technology.

Being single lifts you will be able to enter lifts, squat, bench press or the deadlift individually, you can do just one or all three, anyone interested in competing get in touch for more details. peter.lucey@cit.ie

Admission will also be free for spectators

Thats a novel way of doing it

    Is that normal over there?

    Whats the reasoning for it?

We've never had that in Australia

The IDFPA have the competitions where your judged off your total of the three lifts also, most guys do enter all three but it also lets the specialists get involved too. There is an Australian WDFPF affiliate too http://www.drugfreepowerlifting.com.au/index.htm im not sure exactly how they do things but id imagine it would be quite similar.

There is, but they only compete in little country towns and only get a handful of lifters, nothing ever in a major city. To be honest, most dont know they even exist. I do as I know a few of their lifters, plus I run a PL forum in Oz and I update all results from comps in Australia. All there scoresheets on their website are still hand written.

I really didnt know anyone ran 3 single lift comps, we have a push/pull this weekend, which I hate, but I'm the GPC President in Australia, so I tow the line.

In Australia we have GPC, WPC and IPF affiliates

Good luck with the meet mate, will you post results on here?

While I've got you, what are the major Feds in Ireland?

Cheers, my first time organising a meet so looking forward to it, I'll post the results and hoping to have a live stream going too so I'll post a link.

In Ireland we've got the IDFPA, GPC and IPO the IPF doesn't seem to be active except for in Northern Ireland.

Damn I want to enter so I could try break the Nation record deadlift record unequipped but Cork is so far :S.
By any chance do you know what time it starts?

The deadline for entries was yesterday (jan 12th) as far as I know. Not sure how strict they are on that but Id get onto them asap just in case. Think lifting will begin at 10am

You'll be able to enter on the day if needed just make sure you have your forms with you ready to go! The weigh ins are from 8 - 9am and we'll be starting lifting at 10am!
