Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all. I got dropped into teaching 5th year computers this year and as I have never taught computers before I am just wondering what other ICT teachers are doing in there classes.

i have started off with PowerPoint but most students had studied powerpoint in other years and lost interest quickly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Is you school running ECDL? You could also do some digital stories (although this may be more suited to junior classes). Did you ever hear of Scratch programming? Or have you coding experience? I think there are websites where your students could set up a website. The presentations are a good idea and could take up a few weeks. I would also get the students to present their work to the class and maybe get some peer assessment.

If you want to use scratch I suggest you get the book "Scratch from Scratch" by one of the foremost Irish exponents,Stephen Howell who also uses it with kinnect.

What about some kind of twitter project?

I'd go with either Scratch (the book mentioned above is brilliant) or some basic web development (HTML/CSS)

Code Academy have resources for teachers http://www.codecademy.com/afterschool
