Android SDK installation help

    hey, im trying to get the installer for the SDK to work, but it aint happening.

    when i download the file, i dont get the sdk setup like is supposed to, nor am i able to run the eclipse, it says not compatible with your operating system, despite it being the correct one.

    i am on windows 7, the same happens on another windows 7 laptop, is this the issue?

    Which Eclipse did you download? You can't run Eclipse at all?

    Follow the instructions, you need to set java up to get eclipse to work.

    It all works fine with windows 7, unless you are running 32bit and downloaded 64bit eclipse or whatever.

    downloaded everything off the android development site, so its the latest version for windows.

    yes, when i click on it, it says not compatible.

    every step that i have tried, doesnt work. is Windows 7 an issue?

    What version of windows are you running, 32 or 64?

    Which version of eclipse are you downloading, 32 or 64?

    Which version of java are you installing, 32 or 64?

    Win 7 enterprise - 32 bit

    have downloaded the 32bit installer (or i assume so) from here which contains eclipse -

    http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

    have reinstalled java this morning, for 32bit.

    only thing i am going to do again is try download for a 3rd time, but this has happend on 2 computers with the same set up. only thing i can think of, is that it for some reason downloaded the 64bit SDK by default. when i go to select it now, it gives the option to choose 32/64.

    ill redownload it after work tonight and see.

    Run the SDK install as Administrator or it won't work properly. The same goes for Eclipse in Windows 7. I had a lot of issues so what I did was:

    Install Java 7
    Install Eclipse
    Install SDK Manager
    Run Managear as admin and install SDK(s)
    Run Eclipse in Admin mode and run the ADT setup in Eclipse (on the SDK Page) http://developer.android.com/tools/sdk/eclipse-adt.html

    I would start again from scrath tbh. I had a lot of hassle originally.
    Frankly installing the stuff is harder than half the app writing!

    Far better and easier to just download the ADT bundle.
