Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Barclays Premier League

    Venue: Carrow Road
    Date: Saturday, 17 November

Norwich midfielder Alex Tettey should be available despite pulling out of the Norway squad for their midweek friendly against Hungary with a back problem.

Wayne Rooney and Jonny Evans are doubtful for Manchester United, though Robin van Persie will be fit according to manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney picked up an ankle injury in his side's 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.

Ferguson revealed Javier Hernandez is likely to start after his match-winning impact as a substitute against Villa.
    Head-to-head

Norwich have only beaten United once in their past 14 league meetings: 2-0 at Carrow Road in April 2005 (W1, D1, L12).
In their most recent encounter in February, Ryan Giggs marked his 900th appearance for Manchester United with a 90th-minute winner.

    Norwich

The Canaries are unbeaten in their last four league games (W2, D2).
They have kept three clean sheets in that time, and their season's tally of four is bettered by only Stoke and West Ham.
Only Sunderland have scored fewer goals than the eight scored by Norwich.
Michael Turner is poised to make his 300th career league start and his 350th club appearance.

    Manchester United

United have won 14 of their last 16 matches in all competitions, including nine of the last 10 league fixtures.
They have trailed in 10 of their 17 matches this season. In the league, they have gained an unrivalled 15 points from losing positions - five times as many as they managed in 2011-12.
A sixth successive away win in the Premier League would represent their best form since a similar sequence between December 2001 and February 2002.
Javier Hernandez has scored seven goals in his last five appearances in all competitions. He has scored 27 goals in 62 league appearances for United, despite only making 34 starts.
Robin van Persie has scored eight goals and registered three assists in 11 Premier League appearances for the club. He has also scored 56 goals in his last 66 league games.
Michael Carrick could make his 400th career league appearance.

Going for a 3:1 to United here.

You have to feel that Norwich are going to score. But at the same time you have to feel that Van Persie and Hernandez are going to score.

I'll say 3-1 United. Could well be a lot tougher than that though.

United just about snuck away with a win in the same game last year with 2 goals in about the last ten mins iirc? Norwich are on a decent run of form but I can see Utd getting a few

    1-3

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

If Rooney's a doubt and Kagawa is still out then I'd like to see the following...
    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rio Evra
    Carrick Cleverley
    Valencia Anderson Young
    v.Persie

Although with Young and Cleverley playing midweek I wouldn't surprised to see them both on the bench, maybe Nani & Fletcher starting instead.

Saf pretty much confirmed Chicharito will start earlier today .

4-4-2 Formation so by looks of it.

    I will go 3-1 United.

Its type of game that if United were to get few early goals they could really punish Norwich.

Nothing less than a win will do. United to win 3-0

Could be a tough enough game, Norwich in decent form and not conceding many at all.

    de Gea
    Rafael--Smalling--Ferdinand--Evra
    Valencia-Carrick--Anderson--Young
    van Persie----Hernandez----

I'm expecting another tough game like last season. Holt will score.

    Chico hat trick :D

    4-0 united

If RVP and Chico are both gonna start up top, I'd run with that too, Blatter.

Can't see United winning this 4-0. Well capable of it, but they seem to like making it hard for themselves.

I'm tempted to put something on 2-1.

This will be far from easy! I expect us to struggle for a large part of the game but ultimately win. Norwich have been playing pretty well lately and I can see Holt causing us problems.

Giggs and Carrick in midfield, I can already predict us being 2-0 down at halftime.

Giggs to score first now. :D

We deserve all the luck to go to Norwich after that.

Just not happy now at all.

Anderson would be perfect in this match.

Im not so much annoyed at giggs' inclusion as i am with Anderson not getting a game. ok he might get tired in the 65th minute but then stick giggs on to see the game out. It would be a more energetic and imo creative option.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

I wonder is Giggs starting this because he got the winning goal against Norwich last year. It's such a mental choice from Fergie. I'd have Cleverly, Anderson and Powell ahead of Giggs.

FFS Giggs, can you not pick out a red shirt

*Just to save me typing it out later on.

If I was Anderson I'd be incredibly pissed off right now.

Crazy decision yet again from SAF.

Giggs in the team means much less energy and creativity. Rooney not in the team means much less energy and creativity. This is not good.

Im going to guess Fergie's logic is that Giggs has been start on his arse all week so would be the freshest.

Was Anderson in the Brazil squad? I wouldn't have thought so. If he wasn't then... WTF !!

Ando hasn't played with Brazil in a competitive match in years. He has been injured or hasn't warranted it.

Gonna get run over in midfield with Giggs starting, such a joke at 38/39 hes starting in Uniteds midfield, and an even bigger joke Fergie is still picking him

Great to see Phil Jones back in the squad :)

Ah yes.. not something I cared to take notice of before. I see now his last app was 2008.

In which case I reaffirm my "WTF".
