400E Gaming PC.

Whats up everybody. Im quite surprised that the 9 yr olds on xbox have quite an active sex life with members of my family so I have decided to go "Hardcore" and get a gaming pc. My budget is 400E MAX! I already have a Hard drive, keyboard, mouse, disk drive, monitor and operating system. I want it to play games BF3, ArmA II/III (When its released) Etc. Fire away lads and give me some ideas.

Very good PC with Quad Core processor and a decent graphics card. Would play all new games on medium to high settings. Only 380 euro.

650w psu is unneeded, modern high end pc's use 200-300 watts max (my current pc with 7770 and 2500k uses 125w with cpu+gpu full load).

If getting better than a 7770 he should go for a 7850 for only 10 euro more. I'd also go for the newer intel 3450 over the phenom but both are good enough.

Really appreciate the replies guys. One question though, whats the difference between "ATX" and "mATX" Motherboards? Is there different cases for each one?

matx (micro atx) boards are normally cheaper and have less features (usually stuff you don't need though)

matx boards can fit in normal sized cases, but obviously an atx board can't fit in an matx case.

The reason I chose the 3450 cpu is because he mentioned bf3. I recently built a dual core pc for gaming, and it bottlenecked my graphics card alot in bf3 multiplayer, gpu usage was only 60-70 percent most of the time with a 7770. Changed the cpu to a 2500k and gpu usage was 100 percent all the time. I know the 3220 is a bit better than the cpu I was using, as it has 4 threads but still I'd go for a true quad core if bf3 is a main game he'd be playing.

It's a good build.. he shouldn't count it out tbh. The 7850 is quite a bit faster than the 7770 but I have one and it plays all games great at 1920x1080 as long as you drop the graphics settings a bit on some of the more demanding games.

Nice build for the price, was trying to cheap it out as much as I could in my one! If you can manage OP to get a decent i5 for an extra 60 or 70 its really worth it!
