Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A bit vile for the Lord's day but with the amount of Athiests around, it mightn't matter too much. Basically wondering what the stuff in your eye is called after you wake up. I call it 'cack' but I'm sure that's not universally accepted. The OH calls it Sleep Dust ffs. What do you call it or do you know what it's actually called?

Your other-half was right. It is indeed sleep dust.
While you are asleep, the magical sleep fairy visits your bed and quietly climbs up onto your face. Then opens each eyelid and waves their magic wand placing sleep dust in your eye, to help you dream.

See, wimmen know plenty of useful (non X-factor) stuff too.

    Fascinating.
    FROM WIKIPEDIA
Rheum dries and gathers as a crust in the corners of the eyes or mouth, on the eyelids, or under the nose.[3] It is formed by a combination of mucus (in the case of the eyes, consisting of mucin discharged from the cornea or conjunctiva), nasal mucus, blood cells, skin cells, or dust. Rheum from the eyes is particularly common, and is called gound[4] (/ˈɡaʊnd/; from Old English gund, gound) or, in common usage: eye gunk, sleepydust, sleep, sleepys, sleepers, eye goop, eye crud, eye crust, eye bogeys, eye boogers, and others

So technically all mucus that combines with skin and blood and dust during sleep is called Rhuem . Rhuem from the eyes is called gound it is a combination of mucin from the cornea and dust and skin particles.

Rheum is thin mucus naturally discharged as a watery substance from the eyes, nose or mouth during sleep. Rhuem from the eyes is called gound.

    Cool.

It looks like everyone is correct.

Lets come up with some new names.

    Eye lid nasties.

    Dream paste.

    Sandman's cement.

    Peeper Sleeper.

    Ewh whats that stuff?

    Dream gound.

Rest Rheum....(it sounds like rest room)

    Rheum of Slumber

    Bed Rheum.....

Oh I could hide 'neath the wings
Of the blue bird as she sings
The six-o'clock alarm would never ring
But six rings and I rise
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes
The shaving razor's cold and it stings

    Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh what can it mean to a
    Daydream believer and a
    Homecoming queen
