You sir have an Audi RS4 :D

Anyone here own an E90 BMW 330i? I've been reading up on them and it would seem that they are an incredibly fragile engine, especially when they get close to 90k kilometres

its a fantastic jeep. really like it and all but it was loaned to a friend of mine a few weeks ago for a few days while his car was getting repairs and he really liked it and offered to buy it from me and he even set the price.

was talking to him today and he said he is selling his car for something bigger cos he lives in the bog arse of nowhere and wantssomething big for that and his two dogs. so he made a fair offer and I took it.

I dont mind like. made a bit of pocket money for myself and will get something else again this year :)

A friend has a Disco 3 from 2007, he bought it new. Apart from two fuel pumps (warranty both time iirc) and an issue with the tow bar (unreal scary, sorted again) it's been troublefree more or less. Servicing cost isn't that bad even when he got the timing belt done in the main dealer :)

Learned something new today - the temp reading on a lot of newer cars is "faked" - it tracks coolant temp ok til it gets to "midway" but it kinda latches at that until it reaches imminent "she's gonna BLOW cap'n" temps. Handy like.

You want to be sure your fan was working if that's the case, an accurate temp gauge was something that saved me a few times while I was waiting to fit a new fan back in my FIAT days...

Surely its not that cut and dry? I know that most cars (Alfa's being an exception) track "averaged" coolant temp over 15min which would show a delayed rise in temp, but they dont (AFAIK) stick to mid points. Alfa's track temp in real time, its quite a nice feature.

Cool, that's not as bad - I have more faith in a few heads here than randommers on an American mini site! 15mins is time enough to do harm tho?

If that is true stuck open stats will be hard to spot :)

I was simplifying slightly, but the temp will have to go out of a certain band around midway before it will register. So unless it's pretty cold etc, it could definitely mask it

There is a decent enough dead band IIRC on the temp display.
