For those on Facebook, if you have a few minutes drop over to our new page and give it the thumbs up.

We'll have plenty of pics and videos from both cars over the coming weeks and months.

Hopefully the mods won't have a problem with me posting this here, it's not for profit and just looking to get some support behind us.

    Done.

Limped out mode in my car last night, no EML light. Tops out at 72mph in 6th gear, less guts than my 206 in this mode :P

Need to read some codes I think...

Are you over revving it when it's cold? I know that the RX8 goes into (kind of) limp mode is you rev it too hard when it's cold.

Nope, it's happened twice now under similar circumstances; engine normal temp, foot to the floor in auto, 3rd gear going for 4th, high RPM coming down off an on-ramp onto the motorway.

Horrible "Eugh, what" feeling. I think conzy's going to try read the codes on it

Got my insurance renewal today. Down from 856 last year to 652 this year. Last year they matched my 5 years named driver to a full 50% no claims discount (which I paid to protect the 50%). Got the renewal documents and it had 50% representing 5+ years in own name. When I rang them they're going to resend the documents to have 1 year in own name but still with the 50% discount so no change in quote. Very happy with that, no other insurer comes close.

23 year old in an 07 Passat 1.6 FSI.

Here's a short video on the noise I'm hearing in the Yaris. It could of course just me not being used to the sound of the 1.0 engine but better to be safe than sorry.

The whine gets louder the higher the revs go in higher gears.

Sounds like something on the auxiliary belt to me. We had a yaris years ago and it was making a sound like that and turned out to be a tensioner.
If it was mine the next step I would do is take the belt off it and run it for a short time and see if the noise is gone. Or before I start it I would turn all the pulleys by hand and feel for roughness.

I listened to this earlier and thought it sounded like my alfa when the balance belt tensioner was about to shear on it. Only difference though is that at higher revs the sound abated somewhat. (I'd to go look up which poxy belt it was on my car :o)

An Escort I had whined as it revved up, was a dodgy power steering pump. Same with the hape, the pump was dodgy and whined like a bítch

Lol, just reminded me of this
Jesse (to Gus): Tell this asshole that if he wants to learn how to make my product, he’s gotta do it my. The right way.
    Chemist: I speak English.
Jesse: So you understand what “asshole” means. Now go get me my phenylacetic acid, asshole.
    […]
Chemist: Who do you think you are?
Jesse: I’m the guy your boss brought here to show you how it’s done. And if this is how you run your lab, no wonder. You’re lucky he hasn’t fired your ass. Now if you don’t want that to happen, I suggest you stop whining like a little bitch and do what I say.

    :D

    I often do:P

And then overtake again just to show I can do it any time I like:D

Thats on the motorway, on real roads I just piss off, easily, which leads me to 2 conclusions.

    1) passats and a4's cant take bends.
    2) people who buy felt spec beemers cant drive.

Honestly alfa lights are like a red rag to a felter:cool:

They probably just see some auld fart in an alfa and know it'll be broken down within a 5 mile radius anyway so don't try :pac:

Hmm, I do this too on motorways, Newlands cross is also one of my favourite junctions to do this at.

Nah, its a common rail jobbie:cool:

When its empty, with the low gears she can shift at lowish speeds, well able to boogie through the bends too;)

3rd gear and a bit of clutch abuse away from the lights has surprised a few people too :)

Ah now, that remapping lark is no fun :p Our old one was the Sofim 8140.63 (non turbo idi)

It was as slow as a wet week... Claim to fame was it outpaced a Micra on the M1, just :pac: the Daily has the exact same engine, only lower bhp, a lot more drivetrain loss, heavier van, thirstier and more infuriating getting up steep hills.
I screwed it out and still was hopeless!!!

We got a 2.8 Turbo engine just for our own sanity it was that bad :P

Thanks for the replies lads/lady. Will take a look at the Aux Belt and tensioners when I get a chance at the weekend. Should be getting looked at by a mechanic soon too.
