.........A gap in taxation..............A gap in taxation...........A gap in taxation of at least 2 months......................

Ill be the 5th owner too. would that be normal for an 11 year old car?

Could have been sitting about in garages for sale for a while :)

Wouldn't be bothered by number of previous owners or the taxation history if the car was sound.

If you're not comfortable in making a decision on if it's sound or not get it checked out :)

car is getting checked out by Brian Powell as we speak James. The owner let me take it there myself, has been pretty open, all cartell has checked out fine and he has even brought me into his house.
looking at the receipts, it has done 17k miles in the last year. BMW service history stops in 2005 at 55k miles when it was imported.

Recaro seats are the only positives about the Mk 4 GTi to be honest! Still, there are worse cars out there for small money that he could have bought!

Its nice when a sale goes smoothly like that, Instead of lurking in an aldi carpark etc. If you buy it get yourself to the Dyno Day! Should be a good day out

Happy out so, they'll be well able to spot any body repairs etc.

As above, wouldn't be remotely bothered by number of owners or motor tax gaps :)

Ahh they are nice enough really. He did have a Mk4 1.6 before so it's much better than that.

It also cost him half as much to buy :)

Ardennes, looks like you're on to a winner. Here's hoping it works out for ya.

Might need a BMW sub forum at this stage:D:p

    Hahaha, so true.
Gone are the days of the Civic, they've stepped into the 3 series and not looked back.

Insurance settlement on the Wife's V70 finally agreed this morning (4 weeks, 1 day after the incident). Deal done on the replacement so she's due to get a draft this afternoon and we'll be collecting tomorrow morning.

Same year as the V70, higher mileage, but 205bhp and 4WD - all for a bit less than the settlement :-)

Every import I saw was a rust bucket last year. They were:
    1 Corolla tsport
    2 Focus STs (ST170)
    and 3 BMW 325s

Wouldn't touch an import of that age any more.

    I wouldn't discount a car on that rationale :)

I would have a peak under them though as with any car, the ZT had spent most of it's life in England before I bought it and apart from the back box strap was fine underneath :)

Tinworm does seem to like E46s though.

x2 mine was 4 years in the UK..some of thethe mr2s rear sills do be rotten due to a sponge for sound deadening retaining moisture (due to tbar leaks)...I pulled the foam from mine and checked and all good,:D

I've removed the foam and sprayed that dynax cavity wax into the sills area.

There is a bit of flooding in dublin an Wexford, its windy and its raining.

Methinks at least half the country needs to man up:P

When everything west of kildare was under water there was less about it.
And those AA and Rsa muppets on the radio really piss me off I detest being talked to like I'm a Child:mad:
