There's no option for an upgraded actuator on its own. Even if there was, it would require different mapping in order for the turbo to meet boost levels properly. Even at that, it's only masking the problem whereas by doing what I'm doing, I'm solving it for good.

There's not a hope in blue hell I'd fork out for 2 new turbos. That'd be close to 3 grand along with possibly a new intercooler and whatever else is needed. I'm replacing an OEM turbo with an OEM one that has been remanufactured for BMW with all the upgraded parts plus a 2 year warranty from BMW.

I don't have the money, time or facilities for custom fabrication or anything like that.

I though your drug business was booming! :pac:

The giveaway was the tax disc on the screen, it's an Irish one in the other pic.... My guess is it's pretty rough outside!

The 1.4 was never a nice engine, I had 2 Escorts with it. Not a happy sound from either of them.....

    Fair cop :)

but for a 700 quid car, why bother, surely people will see the actual car when they come for a look... besides, that seems to be the going rate for effectively "a years test" these days.. rough or not, it would go for a few quid...

Haven't had one (thank fook), but they always sounded to me like there was a little guy with a hammer inside trying to get out :pac:

Not even worth that.... Bought my one in 2008 for 150 and got another one years later for free :pac:

Actual pics of the car and sub 500 would be a huge improvement!

There are pics of the car bar one?

Half the ads on carzone from dealers are like that!

Yep, Irish licence is fine. Just be careful coming out of Lisbon airport if that's where you're landing. The first roundabout you hit is very confusing.

    License is grand :)

Not sure on portugal, but a lot of rental places elsewhere tend to try roide you for being under 25.

The Aygo has no "Under 25 surcharge" such is the level of POWAH

The Yaris went straight through the NCT, one advisory and that was to change a tire which I knew had to be changed anyway.

I should have made myself clearer, actual pics of the outside of the car ;) One interior pic that could be the interior of any Escort....!

Wait.... The cheeky sod must have seen my post on here, gratuitous pics of the car now!

Either way, I'm still suspicious, no pics of the rear right of the car, it looks weird in one of the pics... Maybe it's just me....

Changed the brake discs and pads there on the bangernomics clio. The halfords pads were almost worn away after only about 10,000 miles (I was stuck and nowhere seemed to have them at the time). They're now very lock happy with mintex discs/pads.

The exterior photo shows NCT cert in a different holder than the other 2 discs, but to me the interior photo looks like a 3 slot holder or is my eyesight just crap?:pac:

    Pop quiz hotshots:

If I wanted to spend as little as possible how cheaply could I put a car which was first registered in 1998 or older under my backside with tax and test until the end of June at the earliest.

I'm talking sub 400€. It has to be roadworthy and tax and test must be present.

    Hypothetical like.....for now

To answer your q, have an older motor like that yourself? Alternatively, I'll post some autojumble in bangernomics later :)

Just back from the mechanics there. So I have left the car with him for a few days so he can do the work. So he went true the car with me on the lift just an initial. I always think of it as a good learning experience so I watch him check it over. Just on an initial check what the car needs.

-2 front inner tie rods (one really worn)
    -2 front ball joints.
    2 rear ball joints.
-Differential seal leaking fluid quite bad (so needs a new diff seal)
-Another oil leak coming from around the crank shaft seal he has to investigate further but if it is then hell have to strip away the timming belt and therefore I would be aswell to put on new timming belt.

And that was the initial look over :(
And I seem it with my own eyes all these parts are worn. Some worse than others. So I am just going to get whatever it needs done within reason. I have the money and there's no point in doing bits and pieces and it still not being right. It should be sweet when it comes back from him :)

Thinking of getting a second car for a few weeks. My partner will need mine exclusively and I'll need a car too. Something I won't loose a huge pile on.....a huge pile of pennies

    Thanks Dgt.

I'll be making a thread soon I think.

I'm thinking of something registered 1998 or older and getting a classic policy on it and running it for a few weeks. Bonus points for something with long NCT and tax.

Two cars will be needed and I'd like to do it as cheaply as possible!

Just need food for thought right now as I couldn't think of anything.

That's where it gets tricky.... Scarce to find stuff like that!

    NCT till July, 495

I'm sure there's room for bargaining...

Chaps.... AutosalesRC based on the Naas Road- has anyone ever heard of them? Are they reputable. They are on Donedeal and Carzone with one or two cars I'd potentially be interested in seeing.
