Have Matchbox Twenty played Dublin before as headliners? I know they supported Bon Jovi way back when but is this their first gig as 'their gig'?

I've been an absolutely massive fan since around 99/00 and someone said to my gf that they saw them in Ireland a few years back and I was a bit miffed. I'm just wondering if somehow I missed a headline gig of theirs years back?

This is their first gig in Ireland since the Bon Jovi gig all those years ago.
Can't wait for tonight! Gonna be awesome.

Hope this is allowed, but I have 2 seating tickets for tonight's show (can't remember which block, at work at the moment and tickets are at home) and we can't go, so I'm willing to give them to whoever wants them free of charge.

Whoever wants them would have to collect them from me from where I work on Sir John Rogerson's Quay before half 5, or I'll be in Stephen's Green Shopping centre between 6 and half 6 this eve (very strict on those times unfortunately!). First come first served, post here and drop me a PM if you're interested.

    Edit: Tickets snapped up

just got a ticket on ticketmaster this evening for tomorrow's show. So excited. It's a seating ticket, does anyone know if I'll be able to stand downstairs or are they strict on that?

Would also be great if someone could post up the set list after tonight's gig.

It might take a too long to type. By all accounts (on Facebook) they came on at 8.30 and played for two hours! :P Can't wait!!

My friend has just pulled out so I have a free ticket for tonights gig.
I know its really really short notice for anyone to decide like right now if they want to go or not but hey....i thought i['d throw it out there.
Im leaving for dublin at 5 and will be there around half 6, quarter to 7.

Pm me asap if anyone wants this ticket.
I want to be going in when the doors open at half 7 so i wont wait outside after that to hand over the ticket.

    Last night was amazing!!
Bright Lights def a highlight and hearing Waiting On A Train was so good.
So so many great songs last night

Heading down for round two now :)

That was easily the best gig I have ever been to. Nearly 2 1/2 hours of Matchbox Twenty at their best. I was up at the very front and it's certainly a night I'll never forget.

Fantastic to see that after we all chanted "One More Tune", Rob stopped everyone leaving, had an on stage discussion and they did two more songs, Jumping Jack Flash and Our Song.

    Absolutely mind-blowingly good!

Superb gig, the band were fantastic. Rob Thomas the best vocalist on the planet, I will put up photos tomorrow.

Yes, Rob mentioned how it took them so long to get here and that they won't be making that mistake again! I have it recorded in case it becomes admissible in court as a contractual agreement!!!!!

Friday night was amazing but last night was so so much better!!!!!!!
Matchbox Twenty really gave it there all. It was perfect.
The Difference was so great to here. I love that they listened to us on Twitter!
I was having a hard time deciding what show to buy up until that point! Am definitely getting night two now!!!

Hope they are back so soon cos I need to see them again.
I had tickets to Manchester but sold them as I had No one to come with me....that was a big mistake!!!!!!

Absolutely fantastic gig. Haven't enjoyed a gig like that in a long time. It's just brilliant to see talented musicians rocking out without all the frills that a lot of other bands/artists tend to use when they are performing. Definitely will go see them again the next time they come to our shores.

Wow. I knew the gig was long but never figured it was THAT many songs. I know we'd all pay through the teeth for Matchbox Twenty, but that is serious value for money!! :)

Can you buy the Dublin gigs as mp3's? And if so where?

They release their gigs on USB wristbands which you can buy at the gigs and off their store (though I always have trouble finding them). Twas €30.

I bought the USB at the gig and it gives you the choice of show to download from their tours (going back to Melbourne in October last year), but the most recent show available is Indio from the 30th March so it's not available yet.

Sorry to ask what is potentially a stupid question. I've looked at their website and you can buy the usb wristband for $39. I presume once I receive the wristband there will be instructions on how to download the specific concert or do you specify which concert when buying the wristband on the website and it comes preloaded?

I want to get one but the description says not all venues participate so I'm going to wait until someone confirms they did the Vicar Street concert. I'm also presuming the link comes with the wristband.

Not a stupid question at all, I had no idea myself. When you receive the wristband it comes with instructions how to download your concert. You plug the wristband in and there's a 'Launch' program for Windows or Mac. You run that and then it gives you a list of gigs to download (Dublin Night 2 is now available as I downloaded it last night). You can then download the music to your wristband or to your hard drive, either or.

But no, you don't need to specify the concert you want when ordering, you get the choice when you load it up.

    Hope that helps :)

Can someone post the link to where you can buy the USB wristband as I can't find it on the website?

Click on the link for the store - then up in the top right hand corner click into US store and that'll bring you to the wristband.

Thanks, that shipping is a bit steep, though!!

When you add it up and convert it to Euro it works out around €45. Apparently they were €40 at the gig so it's bad but maybe not as bad as it looks. Well that's my excuse!

They were €30 at the gig, but even at €45 it's totally worth it. It's a unique thing. They include the chat too so you get all the talking about Dublin which is great.

The only thing I would say is that whilst the price for the gig mp3s is great, the USB wristband is slightly redundant afterwards as you'll probably put the music on your computer. It's a nice design but probably not very wearable! :)

Oh, someone told me it was €40. Back to the drawing board for justifying the expense!!! To hell with it I think I'll just buy!! Pity you can't just go in and buy the concert on it's own.

Oh definitely go for it. The amount of amazing gigs I've been to that I wish I could take home the gig.

Yeah it is a bit pricey and as far as I remember, the USB isn't even that big space wise.

    Go for it though!

    Thanks very much, very helpful.

Last question, I promise. Once you download it to your computer or wristband are you then free to copy it to other places? My mp3 player is obsolete so will be downloading it to laptop but when I get a new one I want to be able to transfer it.

Haha you can ask as many as you want!
Yep there's no restrictions. I downloaded the gig twice and was able to move the files around so it seems as if there's no digital rights management locks! It also seems as if you can download as many gigs as you want.
