    Hi there,

I do not have a cheque book but I would like to give someone a present of money but I would rather give it as something like a gift cheque rather than putting notes in a card.

Can anyone advise me on how to go about this...

I bank with Ulster Bank and I have 2 a/c's there, basically my questions are:

    1) Do Ulster Bank do such a thing?

    2) Where else supply the service?

    3) Is there a charge?

    4) How long do they take to clear into the recipients a/c?

    5) Can they be cashed in the Post Office with ID?

The recipients a/c is with ptsb.

    Thanks you.

I haven't used either of these before....can these be cashed? I don't want to give something that will take forever to clear. Ideally I want them to have it straight away but something that looks better than notes thrown into a card.

    1) Do Ulster Bank do such a thing? Yes, it's called a bank draft.

    2) Where else supply the service? All banks however you must have an account to get one as the funds must come from it.

    3) Is there a charge? UB is €2.25.

    4) How long do they take to clear into the recipients a/c? Allow one week.

    5) Can they be cashed in the Post Office with ID? No, they can't.
