A good name to remember for quizzes.

Apart from Iker Casillas of course

Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman long to make a children's version of their hugely successful quiz show Pointless but the BBC have vetoed the idea. “I think it would be absolutely brilliant but we are not allowed to do it,” explained Osman, speaking at a Radio Times event at Cheltenham Literature Festival yesterday. “We ask all the time. There are all sorts of BBC guidelines that say you're not allowed to give money to children, you're not allowed to put children under pressure, and things like that. They won't let us do it.”

They've tried circumventing the guidelines by suggesting prize money is awarded to schools instead - to no avail. “We have honestly suggested everything. I would love to do it because so many kids watch it and kids are so brilliant at quizzes. It would be perfect. I would adore it to do it but we're not allowed.”

Awww - I would love to see Pointless Children. It would be brilliant. The interview also tells you which Pointless Celebrities were caught cheating, well worth a read.

ha, I just read to the end ...
In fact, it's continued to be hugely successful both at home and abroad: the format been sold to 400 countries and another 204 episodes have been ordered by the BBC.

If, by country, they mean a sovereign state that is a member of the UN, I think they might have exaggerated that total.

Pointless Children would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than "celebrities". Xander would be even more awkward than normal but you just know both of them would do such a fantastic job letting the kids shine.

    Boo-urns BBC!

I was lucky to have accidentally recorded today's show, since I hadn't deleted the series link to series 6. I had to hunt around for it, though. Why are they so random about repeats? This has happened to me before (I think they randomly went back to series 5 in the middle of series 9).

    According to the BBC guide

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00rhg2r/broadcasts/upcoming

it's going to be series 6 for the next while, though even these are not completely continuous, as for some reason two episodes are being skipped.

Maybe they're not repeating episodes like the one that refers to Rolf Harris.

How is Junior Mastermind allowed then?

Pointless Celebrities are usually full of people I've never heard of who won't shut up :P

Eggheads should appear on an episode, plus Stephen Fry

And they do Junior Masterchef and what have you. Plus there's a load of kid specific game shows on CBBC. Obviously they'd change the format and make the questions easier.... I can't see why they won't allow it.

They both have kids as well so it's not like they're inexperienced with children
