We're going to give you 5 clues to 5 facts about Garth Brooks, can you tell us the most obscure answer?

    1 - His real 1st name?
2 - The name of the city he was born in?
3 - The sport he received a scholarship for to attend Oklahoma State?
4 - The name he used to release an album in 1999?
5 - The name of his second and current wife?

    I'm struggling here

    1 - His real 1st name? Dave?
2 - The name of the city he was born in? Boston?
3 - The sport he received a scholarship for to attend Oklahoma State? American Football?
4 - The name he used to release an album in 1999? Chris Gaines? something like that
5 - The name of his second and current wife? I think she's a famous singer but I've no idea. One of the Dixie Chicks?

Dinner was ready at Pointless o'clock but I was tempted to rush back to the laptop when the Vietnamese Dong was an answer. Twice in my life I've been a millionaire: when I was in Vietnam and when I was in Laos. You don't want to have Laos Kips unless you're there though and my buddy couldn't flog his leftover 300,000 LAK for love nor money :pac:

Would've gone for Hartlepool United to keep Jeff Stelling happy.

I think considering the debate in recent days over the use of the "boom" (which has only just become misinterpreted and I've never seen referenced with such stringent links to an actual pointless answer until recent days) we should come up with a set of guidelines so as to put an end to things.

My view of it was simply celebrating a really good answer, be it pointless or low scoring. If it's the lowest score of the round be it 0, 1 or 23 I think you can warrant a boom. For example last week I got 1 for Sir Henry Cecil yet apparently that wasn't boom worthy. It was the lowest score by a margin and the best answer that could be given. Even if it's not that low but you do well in a topic which in which you thought you knew little could be "boom" worthy.

That's my take on things but if everybody else wants it to be for a pointless answer only then I'll accept that with no more issue. I just find it funny that it's become such an issue despite no problems before unless I've somehow missed it. Anyway I'm just throwing this out there as I really enjoy the banter between all posters and the popularity that this thread has had for something we all clearly enjoy :)

You both got Chris Gaines, so I'm going to say that was quite a high scorer.

The only other correct answer was Troyal. Troyal Garth Brooks. Well done Welsh Megaman, you win that round.

    The correct answers were:

    1- Troyal
    2 - Tulsa
3 - Track (which I always assume is athletics?)
    4 - Chris Gaines
    5 - Trisha Yearwood

Well done if you got all of those at home.

Boom should be Pointless answers only. Pointless is called Pointless, not nearly Pointless
