    It was his flashback as he remembered/ viewed it (thinking it was her). He was in custody at the time she went missing.

    They took her laptop the first day.
    It was with the password, the quote, until then they had no way on to her account. And was it not the dads laptop just a site in the history and he chanced the password?

    Do people not get it. The creepy guy killed a gil in his car a few years ago, conned the journo out of money so that he pay it to the girls family before taking his own life.
