thanks gb i was thinking that my self, ie going back to the original lnb holder as the triax does not let you put the lnb bang in the middle ,i found it very confusing knowing what sattelite i had found, i would get a strong signal ,would have the box on manual scan get a load of channels and then have to look up lyngsat to try and work out what sat i had gotten ! i know so far i have had 19e, 16e and 13 e never found 9e yet, thats with the ordinary lnb dont have a spare lnb but if i find the sweet spot i was leaving the holder in that spot and moving to another holder

To get around this problem, I turned the LNB holder on its side and drilled a hole through it and put a screw through it into the Triax Arm - I keepit closed by using those plastic garden ties with teserrated ege/strip - it works.

Now I have a question - Ive been told that one can get free premiership football on 9 Eutelsat so I was thinking of changing my 4 sats from 28, 26, 19 and 13 to 28, 26, 13 & 9 - so guys would/will this be possible?

    Thanks

On 9 east? Really FTA? Which channel(s)?

    Seems unlikely tbh.

    Hey guys,

I'm gonna try to set the saorsat up on my humax hdr with the diseqc switch.

The question i have is, when i go in to the secret menu in setup and then the satellite setting eutelsat 9e is not there to select. is this just a naming thing or do i have to add the satellite.

does anyone know what i have to enter in user define if i do have to add it. i'm getting my sky dish replaced on friday with the 80cm dish with astra 2 and saorsat lnbs.

    Thanks, any replies are appreciated

if you keep scrolling through satellite list you will come to user defined, then you type in the transponder number etc, these have been given to you in a post here, do that then save then search
Either way the setup MUST include one transponder with the following settings:
    10.765 GHz, Vertical
    DVB-S2 QPSK,
SR 25000 with 1/2 FEC or Auto

then using the KA LNB you can see the Saorsat signal.

    Just in case

If you aren't using it for Saorsat then should be grand, depending on how big your dish is and which satellite it's centered on at present ( you might have to point it at the next one over if 9E is too far off axis )

Saorsat uses a different LNB to the other channels on 9E - so to get both from 9E you'd need a second LNB on a second dish , and a second disecq cable

To get both 9E's on one dish you would need some sort of mad dual Ka/Ku lnb with a magic mirror that separates the wavelengths (yes they do exist - but a second dish is probably easier to get your hands on)

I've only ever seen a photo of one though. Used for 13e Ku TV + 13e Ka Internet (HB6), but that signal is linearly polarised I think. Ka-Sat is circular so I don't know if it works. Strangely they claimed it passed the Ku and reflected Ka which was the opposite to what I would expect (very magic!).

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I ust want the normal 9e not the saorsat 9e. Im centered on 26 at the moment.

    Regards

Those feeds are on Eutelsat 10A @ 10 degrees east & your query isn't really adding anything to the subject under discussion here, whether you have the same receiver or not.

    Hey there,

I put up an 80cm dish today with the ka lnb for saorsat but it got dark before i could set it up properly. If I add the transponder as stated in an earlier post on my humax foxsat could i just move the dish and have someone in the sitting room to see if the signal goes up.

I'm doing it tomorrow and i just want to know if this works or if i'm wasting my time.

    Thanks guys.

you could but a better way is to use the usual lnb and pick up another easier to get channel, there is very little room for error with saorsat, where are you and have you got the dish elevation spot on? 80cm is just about do able. there is another post on here that gives the frequency, channel is ANN

    HERE IT IS

    1. ANN =11727.00 V 50 EB9A DVB-S QPSK 27500 3/4 very strong

I was out, I need to clarify, are you just pointing dish at 9east or are you trying to get 28east and 9east with a lnb holder? did you use dishpointer for dish elevation.

just say a bit more and we can help. and yes saorsat is hard.

this is your dish settings, lnb has to be twisted to the left a bit ie move it clockwise

    Address: swords dublin
    Latitude: 53.4557°
    Longitude: -6.2197°
    Satellite: 9E EUTELSAT 9A | EUTELSAT KA-SAT 9A
    Elevation: 27.3°
    Azimuth (true): 161.3°
    Azimuth (magn.): 165.3°
    skew -11%

and a few on here are using the humax like you but I dont recall them saying 9east was not in menu. Dish has to be correct. its easy once you do it once ie all becomes clear.

Thanks, got it sorted. I climbed the ladder for the last time before i got someone to come and do it for me. i pointed it to where i thought i had it the whole time and tweaked the elevation again and for some reason the signal shot up...... happy days though, i appreciate the help.

Skew (twist) doesn't matter with the circularly polarised Saorsat transmissions.

you as usual., I was referring to the other band. ie the ANN channel so there.

copershels, I have a humax like you and I just checked it and it has a satellite setting for 9 east. The sats are not in order and you have to cycle through the list.

The signal shooting up does not mean a lot, get a picture then you know.

You still dont say what the set up is?

sorry gbcullen , i got the channels tuned in and then used raydons software to transfer them over to freesat mode.
I put a seperate dish up for the saorsat and left the sky dish there for the freesat.

I know you cant get 7 days epg on the irish channels in freesat mode but i'm not even getting now and next at the moment. I thought i was getting it earlier but maybe i'm getting mixed up?? do you have now and next on yours.

    thanks.

no I use the tv aerial for saorview with a combo box and just for fun I get saorsat on a sky 60cm dish. I am not sure what the channel listing is on saorsat. I used to get quite a bit, will check now and see. Are you getting best quality on 9east. With that software you should be able to combine sat listings and get 7 day epg for saorsat, unless things have changed.

i'll be back, glad you are sorted. With saorsat lnb can be upside down, sideways etc ie no skew but tweak it by moving it in and out to get best spot.

I have 90% strenght and quality on eutelsat 9e and the stations work perfect and they have a good epg in non freesat mode but when i transfer them over to freesat mode all channel information goes but the picture and sound is perfect. If there is a way of getting epg on both freesat and saorsat on the humax foxsat in freesat mode and anyone knows how to do it i would appreciate the info....

    Thanks.

i just checked and yes it has the 7 day epg on my sat receiver, its a spiderbx9000hd. i cant touch the humax, its not mine! but you should get the epg.

try this, do a rescan and use 24992 instead of 25000. then wait a little while, it takes a while to populate the epg.

very good, i am going from memory but if you use a channel editor to integrate the sat listing you should get 7 day epg as well. i'll have a look around the boards ie and see if I can find a posting.

thanks gbcullen, i tried that and i get now and next in non freesat mode but in freesat mode you dont get any channel information. it's not the worst thing but it would be great to even get now and next. I'll have a look around too and i'll post it here if i get a solution.

    thanks again.

Watching this with great interest, I have not taken the plunge yet and loaded the software might wait and see how coopershels gets on

hi, what was the final result

    gbc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 coopershels

i have the saorsat channels in the freesat epg grid on 5001 to 5006 but i have no channel info on them but they work.

it's not ideal but i'm happy enough with it.

I have read all of this tread but im still a little unclear as to what the end results were. I got a few questions that i hoping someone can clarify?. or maybe there is an updated thread on this.

1.)Is it possible to get a full epg of saorsat and freet sat?
2.)Is it possible to watch saorsat and record another saorsat?
3.)Is it possible to record freesat while watching another freesat channel?
4.)Is it possible to watch a saorsat while recording freesat and vice versa?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 coopershels

Yes to all questions except the first one. you get full epg on freesat but not on saorsat, you need to set a recording/timer through raydons firmware on saorsat unless you jut press record at the time of recording.

Full EPG on Saorsat for me...

Is this thread and your answer receiver-specific?

Sorry mate, I'm not. That's why I asked if the EPG query was receiver specific. I was pointing out that it's available and fetchable (usually by using the data at 28.2East).
