Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was hardly 'sporting' now, was it? :pac:

Surprised he has been charged though

Completely agree. Like anything in football, it's completely abused. Players go down injured knowing the opposition will kick it out of play, taking the momentum out of their attack. If the game needs to stop let the ref do it!
And even then, only if it's a head injury or something serious.

A perfect example of it was in the Barcelona game where Samaras insisted on kicking the ball down the pitch instead of a drop ball with Messi in the first half, just outside the Celtic box.

That's not considered unsporting behaviour though..

I remember one of my highlights of the 2010 world cup was the sporting nature of the North Korean team. If the opposition kicked the ball out for an injury, they'd throw it straight back to them where they originally had the ball. None of this lumping it back to the keeper.

You probably would do that with the threat of 20 years in the workcamps if you step out of line :D

I seriously would have chinned that guy if I were playing against him. Even a sly tough tackle but getting the ball aswell. The **** went on to score a hattrick- no justice in football at all.

Are Shakhtar the first Brazilian side to play in the Champions League, by the way? :pac:

Very surprised at Uefa have charged him.

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano has been charged by Uefa after his controversial goal in the 5-2 Champions League win at Nordsjaelland on Tuesday.
Adriano scored a hat-trick in the win, with his first coming after Willian attempted to return the ball to the opposition goalkeeper from an uncontested drop-ball.
A Uefa statement said: "Luiz Adriano faces charges for violation of the principles of conduct."
His case will be heard on November 27.

Bit of a joke really, technically didn't break a rule, and if they are going to punish him for something like that should they not start charging players for things like diving, etc?

Bit of a joke that he is banned for 1 game since he did not break any of the games laws

Adriano acted the shíthole, no question.

but not one mention of the fact your man who was being treated was never punched in the face like he was claiming he was.

if you cheat, don't get angry if you get cheated right back.

and technically, Adriano didn't cheat ;)

Should be very interesting to see what happens the next time something like this happens on the pitch.

    A dangerous precendent perhaps?

The one thing that has bugged me about this is that play was stopped because of a ridiculous dive by the Danish player. He ran into the back of the guy and went down as if he was elbowed. He did in his arse need treatment. Surely that's equally unsporting?

There's a vid of the whole thing on youtube & if you stop it at the right time, you'll see that the guys jaw hits off the shaktar players shoulder

It looks as if he dived though & it's hard enough to get the vid. stopped at the right time - but it does seem his jaw gets smacked
