Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What are the chances are it's an alien? Or will it be something "boring"? I bet on the latter.

    Probably a starbucks...

If "the history books" have shown me anything it's to remain unexcited about any NASA discovery!

I'm going to guess they found an organic compound - say an amino acid that is one of the building blocks of life.

Are there any other news outlets carrying this - I would expect this on the BBC tbh if it was that big.

If it was life they couldn't keep it under wraps. I'd say its more likely some precursor like an organic compound.

If it's not the usual NASA hype, yea something like that, or a compound that could only be made as a byproduct of life processes. That would be cool.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    or one of his spiders.
The rover team won't be ready to announce just what SAM found for several weeks, NPR reported, as scientists want to check and double-check the results. Indeed, Grotzinger confirmed to SPACE.com that the news will come out at the fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union, which takes place Dec. 3-7 in San Francisco.

Yeah, those guys would definitely be interested in spiders.
