Hey, looking to get a minor service done pretty soon. Can anyone recommend a good place to get the service done that's not going to swindle me, and open on weekends if at all possible, in Dublin?

Also, i'm a little concerned about leaving it into a non Mazda dealer for service and not it not being serviced properly, am I just being silly?

When you say a minor service, what's items are you due?

Its true that many garages for some reason are afraid of rotaries but, aside from a couple of idiosyncrasies, servicing wise, they are not complicated to work on.

Keep in mind that cooling system checks and regular coolant changes are very important for the 13B.

Dunno bout the RX7, but for the 8 it's not a big issue. Probably the biggest concern is the ignition system. Coils are a frequent point of failure and can lead to much bigger problems, so even though they're not officially a service item most knowledgeable owners will replace them about every 30k miles or upgrade to a better than OEM system.

Oh, and of course it's important not to put synthetic oil in it too.

Oil is extremely important, as with any modern engine.

The cooling system on the 8 is better then the 7 but any cooling issues on a 13b can write off the engine by warping the rotor housing.

The coil issues can lead to excess tip wear too alright.

    Also try rx8ownersclub.co.uk

I read there that the uk spec rx8 needs two oil changes done due to the quantity of oil left in the oil coolers that is not drained when the sump is empty. The procedure is to drain, refill, run, drain and refil. That way 75% of the oil is changed. Not sure on what refill the filter is changed.

I'll be doing my own when the time comes. Let us know if you find someone but that guy on Palmerstown seems to have a good rep. Also Eddie Doyle in Wexford if that's handier. Let us know how you get on.
