I Hate Tea!

Drink it an odd time with a biccie.
Just reading this makes me want to put on the kettle for a brew.

I am a tea snob, hate any branded supermarket and cheap bulk canteen tea products.

Lyons / Barrys or nothing and loose tea leaves at that. :)

Not a big tea-fan, drink it when out chatting/lunching with friends, or with/after meal dining out.
I don't go mad for it like the rest of Ireland seems to! Give me a caramel macchiato over tea any day!

Love it! Would live on the stuff all day.
Proud Irish will never touch this junk beverage imported from China by English aristocracy.
Guiness or spring water is a drink of choice.
(No I am not Irish) Our tea is herbal and we drink it with honey and lemon. Tea with milk is bad for your health.

@confuseddotcom: Their are so many types of tea available now-adays, have you tried experimenting and trying varying flavours?

That's what I don't understand when people say they hate tea. What, every type and variety of tea?? black, green, white, yellow, oolong, herbal and fruit infusions and whatever other varieties there are?

And even if the person has only tasted black tea there are a huge variety available, many with wildly different flavours and strengths.

I think you need to be a bit more adventurous than Lyons or Barry's if you're to taste the best teas IMO. Nothing wrong if that's what you like, they just wouldn't be...my cup of tea. Ba'dum tishh!

@kerry4sam. Have never actually tried any flavoured teas. But would it not be a waste of my valuable money on tea that still is tea even with flavours in it?

Can I thank that by a 1 000?! Exact same here. Same with hot chocolate / cocoa. Had high hopes for whaddyacallit coloa coa or something, the yellow tub? but no it didn't grow on me. I just drink orange juice. That's about it.

Has anybody ever successfully given up tea or coffee? I am addicted to tea especially and drink about 15 - 20 cups a day. I am anaemic and have been advised by my doctor to cut down on the tea, as it is adversely affecting the absorption of iron! I smoke now and again and have no problem giving them up but just can't give up the tea! I love the Aldi tea, it's made by Barrys seemingly.

Yikes! do you drink strong tea or weak? I drink about 8/10 cups a day but I like my tea weak so I don't have any adverse effects from it. And I drink a variety as I mentioned-green, white, black and herbal so I don't ingest too much caffeine or tannins.
Have you tried Rooibos tea? it contains iron. Try and up your intake of vitamin C also, drinking lots of tea can block your body's absorption of it from food that is vitamin C rich if you drink a cup within a few hours of eating your orange or your broccoli or whatever.

I hate tea. Don't get the appeal at all. Same for coffee. Would like to be able to drink it socially... There's only so much hot chocolate you can drink.

I live with a lad who doesn't drink tea/coffee/alcohol/any type of fruit juice/soft drinks.

Seriously, just water all day long. As you can imagine, he's a bundle of laughs.

I used to not like tea and would always get the funny looks if I refused a cup when in someone's house :P Decided to try a cup then one day at home and now I love it! Can't stand coffee though, I've tried to develop a taste for it but it's just not working out.

I don't get it. How could you know that you hate something if you've never even had it in you? It's just hot water with leaves in it.

I also hate tea - the smell, the taste, everything about it. I hate used teabags especially. I hate when people leave them on the counter next to the sink, especially after making their tea at the other end of the kitchen and the teabag the drips manky tea across the counter on the way to the sink.
At work, there is one big strainer in the sink where everyone just dumps their teabags into a strainer and they sit there all day long. Yuk yuk yuk!

I don't like it either, I also don't like communism but I hang out with the right people so it doesn't effect me that badly.

I was going to invite you down to the workers collective for a nice cup o' tae, but I don't feel like wasting my ration on you now.

Have you ever tried a kick in the face, I bet you'd hate it.:D

A kick in the face is a little different from drinking a cup of tea, don't you think?

Drink it an odd time with a biccie.
    My tea recipe:
    - big mug - pint size
    - level teaspoon of loose tea
    - hot water
    - dollop of honey 5 minutes later
The loose tea soon sinks to the bottom, so it's easy to avoid eating any.

I went off tea for years, before I discovered I liked tea made in Chinese or Japanese style. They make it weak by typical "Western" standards. There's too much tea in teabags, the results taste like tannin to me.

Hate tea and coffee as well. Never touch the stuff. Its also very weird when you refuse a cup and people ask you do you want milk or a juice instead?

    Me too.

    Important question: Barrys or Lyons??

I like tea but not a fan of Lyons. Nothing to do with taste, in fact, grew up drinking Lyons.

Lyons Tea was taken over by Unilever, the factory here (Inchicore) was closed, 100+ people let go and production moved overseas.
To mislead people into thinking they are still an Irish product they feature a tea factory with distinctively Irish workers in their ads. Their website is also completely misleading with regard to where Lyons is produced(blended, packed, etc).

Nowadays, I tend to drink Bewley's, Barry's or Robert Roberts.

It's more of a social thing, you ask people to go for a drink or a cup of coffee, you don't ask them just to come and sit in your kitchen.

Drink the occasional cup of tea alright (more to be polite if offered), but not a fan really.. although apparently I make a great cuppa tea, AND coffee (which I also only occasionally drink)

Cans of coke and orange juice (but without bits) does me
