Automated install of device drivers

Ive got some 3rd party drivers to use as part of my project.

Ive got a .cat, .inf and .sys for my device driver. All tested and working.

Im trying to figure out a way to install these automatically across a number of XP computers without any user interaction so that when the device is plugged in it will just work.

The device itself may or may not be plugged in at the time of the install.

Anyone got any ideas?

I use WIX to create installers, and it has the means to also install device drivers in addition to the application you are distributing. It depends on DPInst.exe, which is part of the Windows Driver Kit.

If you don't use WIX, you could probably just use DPInst by itself. One of the command line options suppresses the GUI and doesn't pop up messages.
