    brothels included ???
    Dont need them ;)

A beautiful woman sat at bar beside me night, and asked me if she could go to my room. When I said I don.t pay for sex she shouted 'I'm not a fcuking hooker!!' and stormed off. :(

Haven't had a drink in about 3 months. Don't feel like I'm missing much either to be honest.

Purely on the drink side of things I think I could do it easily because it doesn't taste that nice but it would probably mean getting very bored if you arent going to pubs or nightclubs

I keep attempting to give it up but it's a hard thing to do. I drink on average a total of twelve to fourteen cans a week which might not sound like a lot but considering it interacts with my medication to a certain degree, it does more harm than good. :/

The "Yes but I don't want to" bracket are in denial, big time.

Denial is the first sign of alcoholism.

    Different strokes for different folks!

PS: I'm also sick of the self-righteous implication that people who socialise a lot are alcoholics, not everyone ends their Sat night publicly spewing on pavements!

There's millions of ways to spend your weekend besides getting intoxicated. The alcohol industry has some very effective marketing if they've managed to convince you that you need to spend money on their products to enjoy your weekend.

Definitely not. I've been told by a few different doctors I'm 'dependent'. No, I'm a student....

We've only got one life, enjoy it.

I did give it up but there is no option on your poll for me. It is hard but can be done. I'm of it years.

Who said anything about getting intoxicated? That's precisely the kind of moral preaching I'm referring to -believe it or not, some people are actually capable of practicing moderation and remaining civilised whilst socialising -nor does going out every Saturday night imply you aren't spending the remainder of the weekend doing a multitude of other things!

Also, I haven't been taken hostage by any alcohol marketing campaign, I've had a mind of my own for quite some time now -I don't spend money on a couple of drinks at the weekend because I "need" to -I want to because it's an enjoyable way to unwind with my friends and because going to mass just doesn't do it for us anymore

    No way friend

I have an exam next week and the stress of studying is getting to me

Thankfully these four cans are relieving the pressure a little.
    Studying while drinking is underrated

This post reminded me I got beer today and it's nice and chilled in the fridge :D

OT. I could give up drink but I don't want to.

I don't think any sane doctor in the world would recommend alcohol to increase your lifespan.

If it's so bad then why do they swab needles with alcohol before injecting you with their healing medicine.
    Go on, answer that one...........

It's to sterilze the puncture site, dope.

Alcohol has never been an integral part of my life socially or otherwise. I wouldn't miss it if I stopped. I drink little enough to be able to count how many pints I've had in a year anyway.

Thanks for clearing that 5 pointer up.... :p

    10 pointer McChubbin.
Why do they do the same when administering a lethal injection?

Picked 'Yes, easily' but I suppose there are shades of the first option too. I barely drink these days, but when I want to drink, I drink. It just doesn't happen very often. If someone told me I couldn't drink again for the rest of my life (say for medical reasons or something), I would totally fine with it.

    Somebody's defensive! :pac:

And the options are drinking or going to mass?

Honestly,I probably couldn't.I drink heavily every weekend and have 7 or 8 cans or a bottle of Vodka 2 or3 nights during the week.

One of the few pleasures I have in my life is getting nicely drunk.

Could do but don't really want to. A few jars and coffee is all that's keeping me from the nuthouse. Take one of them away and KaaaBoom! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,068 ✭✭✭LoonyLovegood

I don't often, maybe once every two weeks? I'd give it up but I enjoy unwinding with one or two.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,145 ✭✭✭DonkeyStyle \o/

I could, but don't see why I'd want to. Not unless I developed an addiction to it. I can have one drink and stop drinking. And I don't find myself needing a drink either.
Totally addicted to smoking though :/

I don't drink that much (for an Irish person) but I would still have the odd pint, a bottle of beer in the evening, or a heavy Saturday night once in a while.

It's not crucial to my lifestyle, but I enjoy it, so I don't see any reason to stop. If I was drinking to the point where it was having a negative effect on me physically, mentally or on my relationships, I would stop in a heart beat.

If someone told me I could never have another alcoholic drink again, I'd be disappointed, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd probably just buy the occasional bag of weed instead.

I could easily give up drink for the rest of my life, but if I did the rest of my life would only be about 4 weeks. I'd end up killing myself, probably literally. I love drink too much.

Don't get too drunk and start doing horribly embarrassing things while studying.. That way ya can just cringe through the exam but remember every detail.

Could you do it? There's lots of arguments for, and against.

I could & have and my life in so many ways has improved dramatically for the better.

Probably not I really enjoy it. Somedays I might only have two cans but it relaxes me.
