what is a college referral?

hi can anyone tell me what i college referral is? i wasnt sure were to post this, but im falling behind in college and have exams in 2 weeks, my lecturer said i could try and get a refferal for the exams can any one tell me what that means?

Do you mean deferral?

As in, defer the subject until next semester?
