    Never rented before so sorry if silly question. Is it possible to get leases shorter than a year?
    We have sold our house with closing in two weeks but haven't bought yet (offers in on house - fingers crossed) so will need to rent for min three months we think. At the moment we can't find anywhere ton live and it looks like will have to move in with mother in law!!!!

    Its not the norm but its possible. Some landlords might consider it if you were to offer more than the asking price in rent say, or if you were to find a place that has been on the market for a while then the landlord might be open to a short term lease (although you may have to question why the place has been on the market for a while...)

    Your best bet is to ring around and try your luck. Expect the majority to say no, but you never know what you will find.

    Theres a section on Daft for short term letting that would be worth looking at also.
