Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Heard a few years back that MoN was the type of manager who spent little time with his players in training, and left a lot of it to the coaches, with him doing the motivational talk in the leadup to the weekend/game itself.

Not sure if this is true at all. Probably isn't.

Robertson took training at Villa, I'm pretty sure about that.

In all fairness Doocey - Colocinni cost over £10m, Jonas was £7m, Ben Arfa £7m including the loan fee, Cisse around £8m, Cabaye cost around £5m, Santon cost over £5m and Ba's agent fees will have been scarily high, more than likely hitting the price range that you paid for the likes of Cabaye.

It's not as if that squad was put together on a shoe string budget full of free transfers and players no one had ever heard of.

Very few knew about Cabaye and his potential, and if they say they did, they're lying. Sylvain Marveaux, Tioté etc.

Well we paid for Colo in the relegation season, alongside Jonas.
Benny was a great value buy, while Santon and Ba have more than paid back their transfer fees.
When that's compared to the players we've sold: Nolan £4m, Carroll £35m, Enrique £6m, Forster £2m, Best £3m - I think it's fair to say we've done pretty well.

Not every manager needs a lump-sum to get a job done, but O'Neill has taken the píss in the past with transfer fees.

    Beye - £2m - £55,000 a week.
Sidwell, Milner, Cuellar, Warnock, Curtis Davies, Dunne etc etc.

Let's just say O'Neill doesn't fancy a bargain too often!!

That was the case at Celtic too, MoN's real talent is motivating players, knowing which players needed a bolloxing and which needed encouragement.

He learned that watching Clough and Taylor play 'good cop-bad cop' at Forest.

    Those figures are accounted for.
The post is based on MONs signings, all of them.
I have a real issue with that post. The figures he gives are completely different in a lot of cases to what transfer league has up as the sale price. Also how would he have the wages for players?

Thankfully it looks like John Robertson may be on his way up soon. Heard from a decent source on the Sunderland forum that O'Neill has put out a plea to him and Robertson wants to help his mate out.

    Would be a big boost.

You know you're bad when your record is worse than Steve Bruce's.

Still think he will come good needs time to build his own side. Bruce record was decent when we had good options like Bent, Gyan and Welbeck. Once they went we were left with very little and MON needs time to turn things around.

Problem is, if they give him time he may well be building a side in the Championship.

Doubt it there is enough quality in the squad to stay up comfortably enough with a couple of centre mid additions. Very slow centre mid at the moment so we find it difficult to counter which he likes to do. Once we get that sorted think we will see a different side.
